Public consultations on the proposed Workplace Violence and Harassment (Prevention) Bill 2026 will take place this week and next, as officials seek input from residents and stakeholders ahead of its advancement.
The first consultation is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 5 p.m. at the Bolans Wesleyan Holiness Church. A second session will be held on March 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Parliament Building in St. John’s.
Organizers are encouraging employers, employees, union representatives and members of the wider community to participate in the discussions, which form part of the government’s effort to strengthen protections against workplace violence and harassment.
The proposed legislation is aimed at establishing preventive measures, reporting mechanisms and safeguards to address incidents in public and private sector workplaces.
Officials said the consultations are intended to gather feedback and recommendations from the public before the bill proceeds further in the legislative process.
