Protesters gathered outside Police Headquarters on Friday demanding progress in the investigation into the police killing of 18-year-old Kahleel Simon, who was shot in Bolans on August 27 — the day he turned 18.

Family members led the demonstration, saying they are losing patience and fear the case is stalling. Supporters held signs calling for accountability and vowed to keep public pressure on authorities.

Simon’s death has fuelled anger in Bolans, where residents say the community is exhausted by recurring fatal encounters involving young men.

Acting Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers said investigators are still taking statements and reviewing evidence, and confirmed an autopsy has been completed. He did not outline next steps in the probe.

Relatives insist the shooting was unjustified and claim Simon was given no meaningful opportunity to comply before he was shot.

Friday’s action follows weeks of similar demonstrations, with organisers promising to continue until there is a clear outcome.
