A community protest calling for justice in the police shooting of 18-year-old Khaleel Simon is scheduled for Friday, 17 October, outside the Bolans Police Station.

The demonstration, delayed last week by Tropical Storm Jerry, is expected to proceed “rain or shine,” organisers say.

Opposition MP Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, who represents the area, urged residents to attend. “The family is still mourning, the community is still traumatised. We must demand answers as to why Khaleel was shot the way he was.”

Simon said the event was not political but a call for justice and accountability. “This is about ensuring no other young person loses their life without explanation.”

Police have yet to release full details of the incident, which took place on Simon’s 18th birthday.

  1. Why you all dont go and bury you stinking dead? The lad was no saint…stop portraying him as such. Go and bury him so he to can possibly get washed away from heavy rain.

  2. In most country people protest, demonstrate and march to get result, here I find we just waste time since we usually fail to get any result, much less the result we truly hope for.
This is the only place where in less than no time, once considered Big news quietly vanished from the airwaves and the thoughts of everyone never to heard of again, without any solid investigative result.

  3. Whether you support or oppose the protest, one thing’s clear people are losing trust in the system, and that needs to change.

  4. I sincerely admire these people. They are resilient. They want answers. They need answers and they deserve answers. Just give it to them

  5. This first poster who is protesting the protesters might eventually have something to protest. It’s evident that YOU either have deep hatred for this youngster, for whatever reason, or YOU support the corrupt system of governance. Should he be executed and YOU celebrated because YOU believe that he wasn’t a saint? We are elements of the seasons and when YOUR time comes around, instead of YOU protesting the system, folks might be protesting the system for YOU. Don’t underestimate the system.
