Prospective St. George Candidate Joel Rayne Applauds Partnership to Enhance Water Supply in Antigua and Barbuda

St. George, Antigua and Barbuda – 3/14/2024 – Joel Rayne, prospective candidate for the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) in the St. George Constituency, welcomes the recent partnership between APUA and Seven Seas Water Group aimed at bolstering the local water supply.

This collaborative effort represents a significant milestone in addressing the pressing water scarcity issues faced by residents in St. George and across the island.

The agreement, signed almost two months after a memorandum of understanding was initiated in January, will see Seven Seas invest approximately US$23 million to construct and operate two new seawater reverse osmosis plants adjacent to existing facilities at Ffryes Beach and Barnacle Point.

These plants are slated to contribute a combined total of three million imperial gallons of water each day and are expected to be completed within the next seven and 18 months, respectively.

Speaking about the partnership, Joel Rayne expressed enthusiasm for the tangible benefits it will bring to the people of St. George.

“This initiative marks a significant step forward in addressing our community’s water supply needs,” said Rayne. “By increasing our daily water production capacity, we can provide much-needed relief to communities grappling with water shortages, while also advancing our goals for sustainable development and improved quality of life.”

Rayne emphasized the broader implications of such partnerships for small island developing states (SIDS) like Antigua and Barbuda. “We share common challenges of water security and climate resilience,” he remarked.

“Innovative solutions and collaborations with private-sector partners are essential to address these complex issues and build resilience in the face of environmental challenges.”

While acknowledging concerns surrounding the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as an energy source, Rayne stressed the importance of balancing environmental considerations with the imperative to ensure reliable access to clean water for all residents.

“We must pursue comprehensive approaches that prioritize both environmental sustainability and meeting immediate water supply needs,” he noted.

In conclusion, Joel Rayne expressed optimism about the positive impact of the APUA-Seven Seas partnership on the St. George community and beyond.

“This initiative not only addresses our immediate water supply needs but also contributes to the resilience and prosperity of small island developing states like ours,” he affirmed.

  1. This is FANTASTIC.Hope you win the primary for St.George. Joel is the best Person for St.George. He is Intelligent , Honest , Man for the People. Hon.Gaston Browne let’s go with Joel Rayne. He is the only person to bring back home that seat.

    • I saw Joel on ABS in the evening. He looks like the type of person We need in politics in Antigua. Very decent Person. Family man. His wife is my daughter’s Doctor. Good luck young man.

      • Not forget, all this scammers starting with the best way until their see in their seat ” the brown papers bags waiting for them.

  2. I saw Joel on ABS in the evening. He looks like the type of person We need in politics in Antigua. Very decent Person. Family man. His wife is my daughter’s Doctor. Good luck young man.

  3. An evil environment can influence someone that have good intentions for the people. Seems like a good candidate but the demonic influence in that party is strong

    • Agree with your assessment. Joel appears to be in the wrong party as no matter how intelligent you are or sound, only one man barks in the labour government and the rest fall in line and become puppies. Talk sense and be prepared for a cussing.

  4. Joel should denounce things that are not in the best interest of Antigua and Barbuda if he is going to applaud what he thinks is good.
Until then, please leave the scene.
You are no better than the rest

  5. @ Pam
I saw Henley. He delivers food to the sick. poor and needy nightly.
He always wears his khaki suit and shows nothing but love
His wife is a matron at Fiennes Institute.
    Vote Henley.
Down with Joel and the self enriching renegades.

  6. Joel is the best person for St.George’s . We must get rid of Serpent . I am very DISAPPOINTED in Serpent. He doesn’t represent Us in Parliament. He doesn’t speak at all in Parliament. Cat cut He tonge..St George’s is very disappointed in Serpent. He promised so many things and have not delivered to this day. JOEL for St. George’s.

    • No one is disappointed with your rambling because only that is expected of an ALP supporter but quickly tell us how much money has been spent on the water system and where have we reached since Gaston became the Prime Minister. Building a Reverse Osmosis Plant is heavy construction so maybe he’s going to continue practicing what he preached.

  7. Good day Mr Rayne,

I note with great interest that you’ve said quite a lot about this link-up and collaboration between Seven Seas Water Group and APUA.

Fine words sir, fine words indeed!

However, haven’t you overlooked the most important thing about this alliance/partnership?

I CAN ASSURE YOU THE CRITICAL THINKERS AMONGST US HAVEN’T!

Please tell the hardworking citizens of this great country, who still can’t bath; wash their clothes; get regular flowing water into their home; or even flush their lavatories, when oh when will this all take place?

This month? This year? Or just in time for the 2028 General Election?

I can recall way back in 2014, that Prime Minister Gaston Browne was using the same FLOWING and SILKY words – he was good, he persuaded many at the time (including me!).

Gaston also used grands words like “significant”, “sustainable” and “immediate”;yet, here we are in 2024 with the same old, same old water shortages.

So please Mr Rayne, a few good words of advice from a former ABLP supporter, less verbosity and more action.

WE’VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE …

    • Damn! I might just write a book 📙 about the wayward politics plaguing this country.

I’ll call the title of my tome ‘How Did Politics In Antigua & Barbuda Go So Wrong?’, with the sub-title, ‘Was it The 40-odd years of Birdism and Browneism’

Sounds like a bestseller to me … 😉

  8. @Brixtonian

Joel best for St.George.Born in Potters. I know His Parents. He is also Family to the FREELANDS , YEARWOODS, BARNES , BENTA . Good stock. We must get rid of SERPENT.

    • I was with you @ St George, right up until you mentioned the name “YEARWOODS”.

Isn’t it a Yearwood at the head of our Immigration Department, that still cannot locate the missing Haitians 🇭🇹, Indians 🇮🇳, and Africans on the island?

If you are going to mention names, please talk about those who are doing well in their jobs and for the country. Just saying …

    • @BRIXTONIAN
GLAD that you are supporting Mr. Rayne. Happy that you know intelligence when you see it. Mr. Rayne is a very INTELLIGENT , DECENT , MAN FOR THE PEOPLE and HANDSOME young man. Hope Hon. Gaston Browne recognizes these qualities in Joel. He is the person to bring back St. George seat to ABLP.

      • Nice try @ FERN.

However there’s a big difference between SUPPORTING someone and CRITIQUING them.

BTW, St George will always belong to UPP’S Algernon ‘Serpent’ Watts – he’s more intelligent, strong-willed and capable of holding on as long as he wants.

        Again, nice try FERN 👍🏾

  9. Dean Of The School Of Labour!

Where is Dean Jonas? You can become a part of #Team_Asot, at the next ABLP Leadership Convention joining Asot, Melford, Weston, Chet and Daryl.
Dean remember, the St. John’s Rural North Candidate will need Max help and, Max is an Asot protege, and his announcement, that he’s done with running for office, could be as a result of Gaston’s treatment of his mentor, Asot!

  10. Attention! Attention! If you are a yes man please join the ABLP.
Overthrow Hitler is your best option .Rasston is looking yes man, an insecure leader that don’t like to be challenge. When he bark the little mongrels follow.

ABLP motto my party is in need of yes man

All those old heads that in the arena before him is like mice that see cat.

Why ? Is it because he allow them in their corrupt practices and they have secret for each other?

  11. This article overlooks several key points. How much has this administration spent on RO plants? The numbers are staggering yet the water situation is worst today. Did I not just see an article in this same forum sighting Cabinet notes of the 12 million gallons daily being produced and water for everyone? An obvious lie since the water woes continues.
So something like 180 million was borrowed to fix this problem. Let’s just conclude that this Gaston Browne led administration is incapable of fixing anything.
Joel obviously lacks objectivity. To me, and I have the right to my opinion, anyone who associates themselves with this Gaston Browne led administration will only be corrupted and join the dirty, mudslinging, self-enrichment scheme.
Noone with any integrity would be eager to be a part of a party associated with scandals, lies,
nepotism, corruption, badmindedness (Delano comes to mind), underhanded deals, piracy, millions in relief funds and grants unaccounted for and an unending list of shady dealings.

  12. Just reading this in ANR. My schoolmate Joel, very proud of you. Wishing you all the best. You have my Family vote.

  13. St. George constituency let’s welcome Joel Rayne to St. George. He was born in Potters.A true POTTONIAN. His mother is Janet Richards. She is sister to Oakland Richards owner of Oakland rent a car. Joel is related to the KINGS , LEWIS ,NIBBS , FREELAND and many others in Potters. Hope Gaston Browne will give Joel the nod.

    • Why is it relevant who someone is related to? I guess the nepotism in this country will never end? Why not mention his personal accomplishments in the past and his ideas for the future so people know what they are voting for? He is the one who will be doing the job not his family.

      • Exactly @ what; nepotism and cronyism is stifling the growth and potential of this great country; and denying and halting the right qualified people to move us in the right economic direction.

  14. Oh so he applaud an overpriced water plant? He must be looking his commission from that money they dream up to tell the public, tell them give a model of water plant so the public can search and price.
