A police officer was injured after being bitten by a detainee at Gray’s Farm Police Station on Tuesday evening.
The constable was carrying out a routine check at around 17:50 when he noticed prisoner Coteen Francis acting erratically in his cell.
As the officer opened the cell, Francis tried to step out and had to be restrained. During the struggle, he bit the officer’s left index finger, drawing blood.
The officer has been referred for medical treatment. Police say investigations are continuing.
