Pringle Urges Voter Re-Registration, Says 2026 Presents Clear Moral Choice
Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has urged Antiguans and Barbudans to re-register or revalidate their voter identification cards, framing 2026 as a decisive year in which the country must choose between continued mismanagement and political reform.
In his New Year’s message, Pringle said national change would require active participation from citizens, calling on eligible voters to prepare themselves electorally for what he described as a defining moment in the country’s history.
“Therefore, I urge every eligible citizen to revalidate your Voter ID card or register to vote so that Antigua and Barbuda can realize the change we need,” Pringle said.
He stressed that political transformation would not come from leadership alone, but from collective action.

“This journey is not ours alone. It will require all of us working together and putting the country first,” he said.
Pringle framed the coming year as a moral crossroads, saying the country must decide what direction it intends to take after years marked by hardship, controversy and declining trust in governance.
“Today, 2026 stands before us like an open book,” he said. “We can choose to write another chapter of thievery, scandal, thirst, and struggle. Or, we can write a new story.”
He outlined that alternative path as one focused on increased food production, reliable access to water, employment opportunities for young people, improved education and healthcare, stronger infrastructure and what he described as honest and compassionate governance.
“A government that is honest with you and kind to you,” Pringle said.
The opposition leader urged voters to consider the long-term consequences of political decisions, particularly for future generations.
“I urge you to look at your children and grandchildren and ask: Do they deserve better? I believe they do. I believe you do,” he said.
