Pringle Calls on House Speaker to Rescind Expungement of Watts’ March 3 Presentation

Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has written to House Speaker Osbert Frederick requesting that he revoke his directive to expunge the March 3, 2025, presentation by MP Algernon Watts from the Hansard.  The letter was dispatched via the Clerk of the House this afternoon.

On Monday, August 25, Mr. Frederick referred to the debate, five months ago, in which St. George MP Watts reportedly cited information garnered from a post-Cabinet press conference.  Its veracity was questioned by City East MP Melford Nicholas and the Opposition Parliamentarian was asked to produce the information from source – but did not do so.

Following an April letter from the Speaker threatening “consequences,” MP Watts responded in May, asking what Standing Order he had breached; what the threatened “consequences” would be; and whether there was any provision in the Standing Orders for retroactive rulings by the Speaker.

This apparently led Mr. Frederick – three months later – to impose the punitive action of ordering that the entire March 3 presentation by the St. George MP be removed from the official record.

MP Pringle’s letter of protest to the Speaker notes that, “after consultation on this matter and examination of both our Standing Orders and Erskine May, my colleagues and I have concluded that your decision was ultra vires and a gross and dangerous overreach, especially as there are other remedies available for a minor infraction.”

  1. From the time me know this man he a one labour supporter, it’s very obvious that he bias, he can’t be no TRUE SEVENTHDAY ADVENTIST CHRISTIAN……He a ONE BADVENTIST BOUND FOR HELL!

  2. They need to tell the member of Parliament to produce the requisite documents. Too early in the game to be controversial. If “good governance” is what you aspire to, then demonstrate it in Parliament by following the advice of the speaker. .

  3. I am surprised Federick was not on the Labour day platform last labour day as he has done in the past. Notice everything he talking or making a ruling, he looking over at Gaston Browne.

Singing for their supper is what these people do.

  4. The Puppet Speaker was given a stern warning by the Lawless Leader to uncover the source.; their intention is to bully. Was Robin in Parliament? Why don’t they put him to rest and stop the embezzling?

  5. No lengthy debate on this.
This is a matter for the courts.
Calling on the speaker to rescind is a futile call.
    We know he will not.
The party has to take this to the court.
The speaker cannot move motions and take action unilaterally.
