MP Pringle and MP Walker Apologize for Absence from Lower House and Senator Parker’s Investiture

The Hon. Jamale Pringle, Leader of the Opposition, and Barbuda MP Trevor Walker are unavoidably off island at this time and, therefore, will miss the first sitting of the House of Representatives (following the General Election) tomorrow, May 18, 2026.

MP Pringle, the Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), traveled last week to the United States, accompanying his minor daughter for a medical procedure, while MP Walker, Leader of the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM), is also attending family matters.

Accordingly, they will each take their Oath of Allegiance at the next ordinary sitting of the Lower House.

The two Members of the Opposition Bench have duly informed the Clerk to Parliament of their absence and take this opportunity to advise and apologize to their colleagues, supporters, and the public.

Meanwhile, Ms. Malaka Parker will receive her instruments of appointment to the Upper House at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Government House.  The Political Leaders also regret their absence from that ceremony and convey to her their congratulations and best wishes for a productive and successful tenure on the Senate’s Opposition Bench.

The United Progressive Party congratulates MP Pringle and MP Walker on their reelection to Parliament and Ms. Parker on her ascension to the Senate – and wish them well in their future representation in the Houses of Parliament.

  1. These two Honourable elected officials are smarter than smart.

Why sit around in Parliament House for hours on end listening to the ABLP gloating about an unfair, unbalanced and unstable General Election that also put their opposition opponents at a financial disadvantage.

They both probably preferred to watch paint dry instead. I would!

  2. What a precedent UPP is setting. Seems like everyone copying the WINKKUP PASTOR for real. Skipping parliament to go party in Trinidad cost WINKKUP PASTOR his seat. That and his cocky, pompous, selfish 😒 ways. On top of that he badmouthing his leader on radio nonstop

  3. BRIXTONIAN Your STUPIDIDY is showing more and more. Most of the person’s in this FORUM is sick and tired of your narratives. You are upset of the TRASHING that UPP got in the election. You did not get your box hand for Senator. BRIXTONIAN is just an ANGRY BASTARD. CHUPTZ.

  4. Brixtonian you are shameless. The 15-1 is burning you still? Show some decorum and class. If the UPP has won the elected members of the ABLP would sit through the same process.

  5. @,ZEENA and @Coming [Last], read my second paragraph and read IT S-L-O-W-L-Y this time and respond in kind or ANR readers will think that name calling is a sign of ignorance.

But to be fair to both of you, many past ABLP acolytes and Gastonites have great difficulty in responding to anything I write coherently.

Oh, BTW, have you started taking any Spanish lessons yet, as Gaston says it’s now our second language? 🤣

  6. @ “Gieselle say no Jamaican…” — your subject name is fitting for how foolish you and the contents of your message sound. The same people making these comments will preach unity in one breath, yet refuse to acknowledge that the Opposition Leader is absent because of a medical situation involving his daughter. Then, to top it all off, you still found the energy to attack former MP Shuggy, who is simply enjoying his life and sharing it.
Clearly, you don’t have much going on in your own life because you sound bitter and miserable. At this point, you come across like a sheep just waiting for the next instructions from your master.

  7. If it was gassy family thud wouldn’t be the topic at all, family come first, not yall tractors
