Pringle Accuses PM Browne of Spreading Misinformation and Evading Accountability
Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle has accused Prime Minister Gaston Browne of spreading misinformation and refusing to take responsibility for his government’s handling of the Alfa Nero controversy.
Speaking on Observer Radio on Saturday, Pringle said, “Nothing Gaston Browne does surprises me. That’s who he is.”
He criticized the Prime Minister for attempting to blame the United Progressive Party (UPP) for the fallout from the sale of the Alfa Nero yacht, rather than confronting the allegations directly.
“He’s spreading some information and I nearly can bet you, you might hear Gisele and I, we’re charged for some reason or the other based on the things that he’s saying out there,” Pringle said.
Pringle argued that Browne was using the opposition as a scapegoat. “This is not about the United Progressive Party, Jamale Pringle or Gisele Isaac. This is about Antigua and Barbuda,” he stated.
He warned that the Prime Minister’s approach could have serious consequences for the country’s reputation, particularly if international sanctions were imposed.
“If they blacklist us, that everybody suffers whether you’re ALP or UPP,” he said. “I don’t think people understand the seriousness of this situation.”
Pringle also challenged the Prime Minister’s claims that the opposition was colluding with external actors.
“Now that the fallout has come, the government wants to shift blame instead of accepting accountability,” he said. “Accountability is not a word in his vocabulary.”
He questioned how any court would base its rulings on allegations of collusion against the opposition.
“Which court is going to grant subpoenas based on what Pringle says or Gisele said or any one of us who he is accusing of collusion?” Pringle asked.
He urged citizens to see through the distraction tactics and recognize where the true responsibility lay.
“The reality of the situation is that Gaston Browne needs to take responsibility for his actions,” Pringle said.

I asked the same question, which court ask for subpoenas based on a collusion? I need to find that court to take the Ministry of Agruculture, them a collude and collude and collude.
You upp you all spreading propaganda!! Even when you all have de information – the propaganda continues. You all agenda is to continue to peddle wrong information!! Hoping something sticks!! Talking bout invading accountability. Boy hush!!
Pringle I do believe that the opposition is assisting this woman. However, I believe most of the questions and information she is seeking are not related to the Alfa Nero and should is the job of the opposition parliamentarians. This could bd averted if the government during question and answer period in parliament answers the questions honestly. We need systems in place to hold politicians and public servants accountable. Right now the corrupt in Antigua is so high that even the lowest of the government workers are asking for bribes to the their work. That is what you and your members are paid for by the tax payers of this country. To stamp out corruption. As the head of the public accounts committee, if these information are not handed, I think you should go the route of the court. So in essence this woman is doing your job.
Secondly I don’t think that any of our MP’s on both sides of the political spectrum are serious about stamping out corruption and self enrichment. No one the government side , not one on the opposition side and of course not the speaker of the lower house either.
On the other hand there are a few women , past politicians and some that are still involved in politics at party level that I believe would and can rise to that level. However, we push them aside and demonize.
This would include D. Gisele Isaac most certainly , Shawn Nicholas most definitely and Perl Quinn, not a single male. In parliament on the government side the president of the upper house Mr. Grant alone stands out. We need to really stamp out corruption in public office in Antigua. Not only are the politicians alone corrupt but lots of high ranking civil servants and it has creeped down to the lowest of the government workers. The examples needs to come from the top. Those we elect to political office. Those that we appoint on boards , those that hold the offices of PS’s and FS’s and Directors of ministries- especially PWD.
I think one person that can start the ball rolling is the GG. He can commit to that. Although he was appointed his office calls for him to step up to those high ideals.
I just find… Where is too much parts to this story about this yacht…. Which one is really true…. is browne really telling the truth? what is the truth bout that whole thing? i think we deserve answer, I cant be the only one confused
A liar calling someone else a liar. Well, I guess it take one to know pringle
Question to Browne: If there’s nothing to hide, why not just be transparent about the Alfa Nero sale?
I would really like to know, Is the government using public funds to cover legal fees in this case?
