Prime Minister, the Honourable Gaston Browne, visited the Museu Emílio Goeldi as part of his engagements at the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) in Belém, Brazil.
The museum, one of Brazil’s oldest and most respected research and cultural institutions, has been specially curated for COP30 to allow delegates and visitors to experience the biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest up close.

It features more than 3,000 species of plants and animals, many of which are native to the region and critical to global ecological balance.
During the visit, Prime Minister Browne toured the exhibits showcasing the Amazon’s vast flora and fauna, including species that are endangered or found only within the basin.

The Prime Minister’s visit to the Museu Emílio Goeldi reflects Antigua and Barbuda’s continued advocacy for climate action and environmental protection, particularly as Small Island Developing States remain among the most vulnerable to biodiversity loss and the impacts of climate change.

Does Gaston Browne knkw where he is standing to have his picture taken?
Does he realise that it is a massive tree in the background?
You may wonder why I am asking that.
The reason is simple and requires a step back in the recent past.
We know the significance of plants to the environment.
We know the effect of plants on the ecology, our biodiversity and their positive impact on global warming.
Sadly when our leaders, especially the PeeeeeeeeeM and the minister of the environment, attend international functions they seem to be concerned only with how much money the can milk from those international bodies.
They preach one thing outside of Antigua and do the complete opposite here.
To satisfy their never satisfied greed for dollars they will destroy the very things they promote at those international conferences.
They are disengenious at best and unscrupulous at worst.
It was just last year that this very prime minister showed total disregards for the environment when he turned Dunbars agricultural and research land into housing for his rich friends and cronies.
Despite public outcry he callously disregarded their pleas.
The satisfaction of his wealthy friends meant more to him them the environment.
When he made the announcement that Dunbar lands would be offered for sale the land had already been sold.
Not one Antiguan from the lower class who resided in the nearby areas was fortunate to purchase a square meter of that land.
Huge buildings and business which help pollute the environment are steadily rising.
The amount of pollution may be miniscule.
However it adds up.
That was more important to him than saving the environment and allowing the trees and plants to put some much needed oxygen into the atmosphere.
Today he stands like a man full of pride in front of a huge tree in Brazil.
How does he fell knowing that his actions will cause us NEVER to see one of a fraction of the size of this one in Antigua?
This photo exposes the hypocrisy of the PeeeeeeeeeM and his cabiNOT.
None will stand for principle.
They all ses dollar signs wherever the word principle should be written.
They encourage the most harm to the environment here in Antigua howberr want to champion all good causes against global warming.
Every year the celebrate arbor day.
They donate hundreds of plants.
However as soon as the plants begin to take shape they sell the lands for building purposes.
Hypocrisy 101 at its very best.
Alas, Antigua!!!!
When will you rise against those evil doers??????????
I really thought you were highlighting that there’s a trees that’s ridiculously similar to that one here round south where the run the girl…Wallings Nature Reserve. But what you said stands nonetheless
Thought it was too hot!!!
