Prime Minister Gaston Browne Highlights Transformative Development in Barbuda
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has outlined the transformative development initiatives undertaken by his administration in Barbuda, emphasizing the significant advancements achieved in recent years.
Browne highlighted key projects and improvements that have propelled Barbuda towards becoming a luxurious island destination with robust infrastructure and full employment.
“The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party administration, under my leadership, has driven the development of Barbuda,” Browne stated.
He cited the construction of the new Barbuda airport and the establishment of high-end hotels such as the Rosewood Hotel and Paradise Farm. “We have laid the foundation for a thriving tourism industry,” he added, noting the successful launch of multiple upscale projects.
One of the ABLP’s plans includes the development of concrete roads.
“We are focusing on building out at least 10 miles of concrete roads in the first phase to enhance infrastructure,” Browne explained.
Prime Minister Browne also praised the employment boom in Barbuda.
“For the first time in Barbuda’s history, there is full employment. In fact, there is a surplus of employment opportunities, leading to a reverse migration of Antiguans moving to Barbuda for work,” he highlighted.

Addressing water supply issues, Browne recalled the severe water shortages that plagued Barbuda for years.
“Residents couldn’t get water to wash themselves, and the supply was inconsistent,” he recounted. The administration has since installed multiple water plants, significantly improving water availability and quality.
Barbuda now boasts a renewable energy plant that powers the island for about 15 hours a day.
“Barbuda is now leading in green energy, surpassing even Antigua in renewable energy use,” Browne noted. The government is in talks with investors to increase green energy capacity, aiming for Barbuda to be fully powered by renewables within the next 24 months.
Prime Minister Browne concluded by defending his administration against criticisms.
“No other administration in the history of this country has done more for the people of Barbuda than the Gaston Browne administration.
Despite the challenges, we remain committed to transforming Barbuda into a beacon of sustainable development and prosperity,” he affirmed.

Haven’t seen you mention any local industry that does not include going to wash dishes and make up beds in a hotel.
Barbudans are resourceful people. Is that the only way you see them making a living? No agriculture or fisheries development? Not even the lobster export business?
So what? You have no patience with that slow money making? You only want to sell their land for plenty money, Lannibozo?
What is the transformative development? Is it selling off Barbuda’s land to the family’s of many millionaires so that Barbuda (Codrington) will become like a Township during Apartheid in South Africa? Very soon the indigenous population of Barbuda will be outnumbered by the noveau riche citizens.
The Leading Land Tenure Lawyer in the World just stated on Sundays Observer Radio that Antigua & Barbuda tax payers and investors may have to repay the illegal land grab. Wow. 90 % Barbudans say NO. Codrington is to become a reservation in 2024. Apartheid is being implemented. Of 198 Sovereign Countries 150 have communal land Tenure and numbers growing. Yet this Administration is going backwards, using outdated colonial unilateral tactics which every progressive society is now rejecting. From Europe to Australia, from Africa to Asia they recognize Communal Civic rights. In Jamaica they recognize the Maroons, in Dominica they have the Kalinago territory. Yet Pathetic Luxury Real Estate Ponzi Schemes are breaking every international and domestic law. This administration will fall on its own sword. Privy Council has warned.!international law has warned. No Administration is above the Constitutional law which clearly states the Barbuda Local Government Act 1976, entrenched in the Antigua & Barbuda Constitution shall create a Body Corporate, the Barbuda Council, to Administer the Lands of Barbuda. Which kind of lunatic goes against the constitution without legitimate reform. This continued bullying wreaks of desperation. Wrong people.
Totally agree with the earlier comments from @ Respect Barbudan’s and Charles Tabor.
The rush to make Barbuda the rich man’s playground and then keeping the indigenous Barbudan’s subservient by working in the hospitality sector and not investing in sectors that will elevate them, is a deliberate act of sabotage by this ABLP government.
Gaston Browne will eventually price out Barbudan’s from their very own land.
