Prime Minister Gaston Browne has publicly expressed his sympathies to the family and friends of GIORGIO ARMANI, the Italian clothing designer, who chose to build a luxury home in Antigua decades ago and visited our country with regularity.
Prime Minister recalls being introduced to this very artistic and creative Italian male whose brands won worldwide acclaim, making him a sought-after designer by the retailers and wholesalers who marketed their stores’ wares aggressively.
In Antigua, Giorgio Armani came for rest, recreation and to have nature imbue him with creative new ideas to provide freshness.

“Unknown to many of us who call Antigua and Barbuda our home, the magical powers of our tropical paradise frequently ignite the creative juices of those who live in crowded cities, in places of challenging personal security, and with constant noise that distracts,” the Prime Minister intoned.
“Antigua and Barbuda is among the most inspiring places on the planet because of the tranquil and beautiful settings which give rise to imagination and artistry,” P.M. Browne remarked.
The southwestern corner of Antigua where several Italian celebrities chose to build get-away homes and luxurious living spaces, also caused enterprising nationals to construct luxury homes for rental — by many of these same visitors.
From all accounts, Jumby Bay on Long Island and PLH in Barbuda are also seeking to attract these successful and wealthy men and women, from all around the world, to these properties on quiet islands, in order to provide the same kind of tranquil and luxurious spaces.
The Prime Minister expressed sincerest sympathies to the Armani family and to Italy on the loss of this iconic, global figure, surely to be missed by all the men and women around the world who wear his fashionable garb, and rejoice in his creative productions.
May he rest in peace!
