Prime Minister Commends Antigua Distillery Limited for 90 Years of Excellence
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – June 21, 2024 – Prime Minister Gaston Browne recently praised Antigua Distillery Limited, one of the nation’s oldest institutions, for its enduring success and commitment to quality.
His commendation came during a presentation of a special bottle of rum from the company where he highlighted the company’s significant contributions to the local and international spirits industry.
“I want to take the opportunity to commend Anthony and the other directors and shareholders of Antigua Distillery Limited for its continued sustainability and success,” said Prime Minister Browne.
“The distillery continues to produce very fine spirits, including rum, and I am very happy to be the recipient of this token representing 90 years of delivering a fine product, not only in Antigua and Barbuda but to the broader Caribbean and internationally.”
Antigua Distillery Limited is renowned for its flagship product, English Harbour rum, which has garnered numerous awards for its exceptional taste.
The Prime Minister emphasized the global recognition of the brand, stating, “English Harbour rum has won numerous prizes for its fine taste. It is regarded as one of the finest rums you’ll find anywhere in the world. We are very proud to have the Antigua Distillery and English Harbour rum, along with Cavalier, as local brands with international acclaim.”
Prime Minister Browne also assured the company of the government’s continued support, wishing them ongoing success.

Is anyone going to ask what happened to Wadadli – the beer of Antigua? Seems to have died a quiet death with no questions asked! I don’t think Red Stripe or Banks would be allowed to go the same way. Shame on Antigua.
