Prime Minister Browne meets with 2Drilly Crew – Agreement to pursue positive pathway of peace reached

Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne on Thursday evening had a very constructive engagement with members of the 2Drilly crew.

During the engagement, which commenced with prayers invoking God’s presence, the Prime Minister learnt that there are feuding gangs in the country including the Grays Farm Killers, GFK who have been engaged in gang warfare using cutlasses and cleavers and resulting in serious wounds to various members.

The Prime Minister called for the warring parties to bring an end to the conflicts and to pursue a pathway of peace, while reinforcing the fact that “as Antiguans & Barbudans, we are one family with a common destiny.”

He said to them that their purpose in life is not to kill and to maim but to be productive, empathetic and caring members of the society.

PM Browne outlined that he will seek to engage the Grays Farm Killers, GFK next week and hopes to get similar commitments of peace and reformation.

During the discussions, the members of the crew agreed to pursue a positive pathway of peace and to become productive citizens.

The country’s Prime Minister committed to providing employment and opportunities for skills development at the Harrison  Center School of Continuing Education.  A number of the members of the 2Drilly crew also agreed to enroll in the YEEP, Second Chance programme.

In addition, the Prime Minister agreed to a proposal to assist the 2Drilly crew in establishing an egg retail business.

This is the second time Prime Minister Browne has engaged in gang rehabilitation.   The other was the Red Shut Gang which himself and community activist Luther Lee assisted in reforming, two decades ago.  The Red Shut gang eventually dismantled after the members were productively engaged.

Also in attendance at the meeting were King Sagifu and High Priest Selah who encouraged the youth to engage in positive development.  Community activists Mitch Jeremiah and Jawato Joseph were also in attendance.

Over the weekend, following reports of a rise in youth criminal activity, Prime Minister Browne on public radio sent out an invitation to meet with the 2Drilly Crew which was accepted by its members.  The meeting was held at the Villa Community Centre.

  1. Probably is what they needed a chance to make better of themselves and contribute something better in society good job PM 👍

  2. Thanks to the 2Drilly for the cooperation of the priminister we knew you all a good people we a peaceful ✌️ nation and I know you all going the better your self es let’s keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍

  3. I hope any Amnesty for serious crimes including murder were neither discussed nor granted. Do the crime, do the time. Or are the Police incapable of dealing with these gangs?

  4. Despite all the noises, our Prime Minister has good intentions for Antigua and Barbuda. These meetings are necessary and creative. I am of the view of that many of these young men are seeking attention, and things will change if they believe that people begin to show some interest in their welfare. Validation can create value.
    I wish our country well.

  5. Why didn’t the police arrest them? You had the vermin all in one place. We have the most useless PM in the WI.

  6. of any of these gabgs fail to cooperate and continue to wreak havoc on our society just take them all out!!

  7. Why are we so easily distracted, why.
Our biggest issue should be, the presence of foreign criminals in our country. This was first confirmed when the police shot and killed 1 in Jennings, and arrested 2 in the green castle area, one has been identified as a murder suspect in his country.
I am amazed that a few days later we are now talking about gangs.
Honestly I am more worried about the foreign criminals who are here.

  8. Make no mistake, because many countries have see similar crime patterns.
The presence of foreign criminals operating in our country needs to be addressed promptly. That is the real threat to our society, economy, and our security.
All the pm did was give the 2drilly crap notoriety.

  9. Gaston you looking like a real gangsta throwin’ up gang signs. Well well well. Gwarn up worl’ boss… I guess.

get with it. It’s called Freedom of speech according to my rules. And they need not give you any explanation.
You can start your own website and post any comments you want to. I don’t argue with them any longer. I just let them run their website as they see it fit.

  11. To tell you the truth I never really expected this to happen. Our Prime Minister Gaston Alphonso Browne is in a league by himself. Makes me wonder though who wrote that letter just the other day, say they will never meet with the PM. But you see, this man is a real leader. He can sit and meet with Kings and Queens and Sheiks and still go meet with the downtrodden. I would fear for my life and never ever meet with them. Especially such a large group. Now let us hope that this brings an end to this senseless killings and robberies.
Mr. PM you really amazes me each time. Let the haters continue to vilify you. Pay them no mind. Especially the one called Brixtonian a.k.a. Christopher Carmichael.

  12. when will Pringle stop being a "baby daddy" and become a HUSBAND??? Ms. Reid don't let him fool you any longer! when will Pringle stop being a "baby daddy" and become a HUSBAND??? Ms. Reid don't let him fool you any longer!

All the best. we hope they all make a POSITIVE change. what of their parents tho?

  13. I support anything that brings warring parties together and would result in a deescalation of violence and the promotion of peace, love and togetherness. If there are known violence producers and we can bring them together in a longterm truce, it will only serve to benefit us all . This is a commendable effort by the Prime Minister.

  14. Much COGNITIVE DISSONANCE from Gaston Browne supporters – and the usual suspects – as per normal by defending the indefensible.

Look, I’ll hold my hands up in the unlikely event that this softly softly approach works.

And also look at the serious development and potential mayhem this collaboration could cause in the not too distant future, if any of these gangs – or Gaston Browne – needs a favour doing.

Making a pack with these devil’s is so wrong!

THIS DANGEROUS PRECEDENCE MUST BE NIPPED IN THE BUD IMMEDIATELY …

  15. I call bullshit on this one….. How is this supposed to help Antigua…..? You realize the precedent that was set with this move?

You can’t make this shit up

  16. How it is,Gaston Browne could find these gang members and their leaders. Why the Police could not find them and arrest their backsides. This smells fishy,it must be fish.Let us see the end results of this staged meeting. Were they paid to meet with the Prime Minister? If so,whose $$$$$ were used his personal funds or taxpayers money.

  17. Mr Byam,,i thought,,it were a brilliant move,,by the PM.
    We now know INDIVIDUAL members.
    Now arrest they,,for what?
What evidence would you present,,to a court of law,,,that,,,,, does not deal in HEARSAY?

  18. #1 Like is only foreigners commit crimes in this country some of y’all are saying lots of foreigners don’t have the luxury to sit at streets corners in villages doing nothing but always dressed I’m the most fancy clothing 👣 while foreigners have to work twice as hard to survive to pay y’all over priced house rents and still try to survive on minimum wages.

#2 Look in the past you see that the amount of deadly robberies were done by Antiguans

#3 why when these criminals are caught with illegal ammunitions they are not questioned or tortured until you get the sources of the providers instead of granted bail
#4. Now u know who some of these gangsters are what the plan? Why are they even allowed to leave the room why wait until they kill someone then u Will hear society failed the victim why not put them all in jail and Their parents along with them they choose this path of life Antigua too small for this ….just my view carry on ur the world boss
