Potters Man Suffers Acid Attack in Daylight Assault

A 31-year-old man from Potters is in critical condition following a brutal acid attack that occurred in broad daylight on Sunday, April 20.

According to relatives Josh Charles had just returned from a nearby supermarket with groceries to prepare a late breakfast when he was approached from behind and doused with a corrosive substance.

The incident happened shortly before midday along Burlin Main Road in Potters Extension.

Emergency services, including police and medical personnel, responded promptly to the scene following reports of the assault.

Charles was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains hospitalised with life-threatening injuries. He sustained severe burns to his face, eyes, chest, back, arms, and legs.

Initial reports from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda had incorrectly listed the time of the incident as 12:30 a.m., but family members have clarified that the attack occurred around noon, and they were notified shortly after 12:00 p.m.

The police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or the Crimestoppers Hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).

Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or motive in the attack.
