Port Authority Sting Leads to Charges Against Prominent Antiguan Businessmen

0

Local businessmen, Edward “Eddie” Hadeed and Cosbert Sergeant, are facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy following a sting operation conducted at the Port Authority.

After their initial arrest and release, they were rearrested a day later.

The men were granted station bail within an hour of their arrest.

At their first appearance in St. John’s Magistrates Court before Magistrate Conliffe Clarke, their bail of $20,000, previously set by Acting Chief Magistrate Wason, remained unchanged.

The businessmen had to surrender their travel documents and secured bail with two Antiguan sureties.

The case will resume on October 16 for committal proceedings.
