Cabinet Reviews Legislative Powers Over Visiting Vessels Amid National Parks Authority and Port Authority Dispute

CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet held discussions with the Manager of the Antigua Port Authority about the relations between his organization and the National Parks Authority.

The Cabinet learned that the legislation governing the Port Authority ascribes certain powers over visiting vessels that are now being exercised by the National Parks Authority.

The Cabinet was made to understand that the informality that now exists requires consultation among the parties and, possibly, parliamentary intervention to cure the anomalies; therefore, amendments may have to be made to the existing legislation that are likely to empower the National Parks Authority.

The National Parks Authority raises funds that go towards the upkeep and high level of maintenance required of the ancient buildings within the Nelson’s Dockyard, Shirley Heights, the Interpretation Centre and surrounding areas

Resources come from ticket entry sales, rentals and leases and are re-invested in the ancient sites.

  1. What stupidity of cause-to view and relish? The National Park is a high end revenue generating stream that contribute nothing to the local people within its operational sphere of control. It is an elitist operation establish and, is functioning for the appeasement of white elitist upper class and tourist: with peons of locals engaged for servitude while generating copiously for the few in the centric clan of dominance by an English class clique- for England’s sake of preserving their patrimonial contempt- and for the enhancements for the dastard deed wrought on the souls of the son’s and daughters of African lineage they’d enslaved by guns into captivity for Britton sake-now left with the indelible strain of conscience to be still in servitude and persevering for a crown of conniving conviction. I mean. Why should we the subjects of this inheritance be made to enshrine the absurdity of England’s bastard deed by generating funds for the upkeep of their tyranny nostalgic derelict remnants? Shouldn’t the funds generated be disburse so as, to impact directly on the local people’s of Falmouth & English Harbor- to relieve the indelible strain of the tyranic memories? Or, why not directly into the consolidated funds of the treasury for national disbursement and enhancements? I see no value or valid reasons for the establishment of the National Park as a statuary institution beholden to itself for the upkeep tyranny against my people and, would rather prefer to see the excavators tearing them down instead of Jennings extension: for isn’t both of them squatting on the quasi government lands? Ah! But how can I forget the memories: One bitter, one bittersweet of staid reticence.

  2. It’s funny that all of a sudden the Port Authority is interested in the area. Where were they for the past 40 years when National Park was managing the English Harbour area, installing and maintaining sll the Navigation lights and reef channel markers. Thanks to the National Parks Authority English and Falmouth Harbour has security cameras well developed docks. It would be criminal to hand it over to anyone else now when they have been doing an excellent job.

  3. Darwin Telemaque looking to enhance the Port’s revenue to fund his weekly out of country trips and now Falconi ah hold he puppet strings round he bullocks. Hope he leaves some money to pay the chinee man Port loan. How Gassy nah send he packing back to Dominica is beyond comprehension.

  4. I have sat in more than one Town Hall.meeting on this subject..If Telemaque has his way in English Harbour, it will be the end of the Yachting Sector. Telemaque thinks he is God and says publicly that he cannot be replaced as no Antiguan can do what he does. He is the King of the Port and all harbours and Gaston cannot stop or control him. Poor Gaston. This is what happens when you get involved with these kind of people to share up the Alfa Nero money..Lie with dogs and you rise with fleas. So now that Telemaque has secrets he cannot be touched.

  5. I think Telemaque is the most arrogant and rudest person I have ever met. Why do we encourage this kind of behavior in our public service? I call on the people of St. Paul to rise up. If Telemaque comes up there to take over from NPA, that will be the end of yachting and hundreds of jobs. Chet will be silent as he is a jelly fish so St. Paul people better gird their loins.
