Berthold Kobina Ackon, a popular African vlogger, has been denied an entry visa to Antigua & Barbuda.

This decision comes despite Ackon being welcomed with open arms in several other Caribbean countries, including Barbados, Guyana, Suriname, and even Jamaica where he was initially denied.

Ackon, known for his engaging travel vlogs and cultural insights, had applied for a visa to Antigua & Barbuda, hoping to explore and showcase the beauty of the twin-island nation to his followers.

However, his visa application was swiftly rejected, as confirmed in an email notification sent to him.

The rejection has sparked speculation and debate, with many questioning the reasons behind the decision.

Some have suggested that it may be linked to a perceived association with a previous influx of African conflict migrants into the country.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne commented on the matter, describing the denial as a possible “knee-jerk reaction” to the past events.

“We will enquire and resolve as appropriate,” stated Prime Minister Browne. “This may be a result of the hundreds of African conflict migrants that entered our shores just over a year ago, and subsequently smuggled out of our country.”

The response from Prime Minister Browne indicates that the denial may be related to broader immigration concerns rather than Ackon’s individual circumstances.

Despite this setback, Ackon appears to be optimistic about the situation, expressing hope that the issue will be resolved amicably.

Ackon’s case highlights the complexities of visa applications and the varying approaches taken by different countries.

While he has faced a setback in Antigua & Barbuda, Ackon’s journey continues, with his followers eagerly anticipating his next destination.

  1. Yes PM Browne you must investigate as to what has happened. This young black Ghanaian is what all black Africans throughout the world should want to be. Our unity is our strength.

  2. Who want Vloggers to shed light on our dirty linen? He should a come with Burna Boy, then the Ministry of Happiness would guarantee his admission into Antigua and Barbuda a million times.

  3. Funny how you reaching out to a vlogger and you nah reach out so Antiguans can have a proper health facility, decent roads and a proper economy so we can live at least comfortable… not some but All…. start ah yard fuss… plenty vloggers come here over and over…. what’s so special about him??? You have some money to get from the Ghanaian millionaires?

  4. …🤣”knee-jerk reaction!”
Mr. Pm, ok then; how about this one,
“FEAR IS THE FOOTING, UPON WHICH, THE FOUNDATION OF CORRUPTION IS BUILT!”

    #FEAR_DIS! #fear_dis! #fear_DIS!

  5. Seen a text where the PM has committed to looking into it. The vlogger is quite an amazing personality. Was well received in several Caribbean Islands including Jamaica and Guyana. Clearly he is paying dearly for the African debacle that we witnessed last year. Regrettably, we are simply painting them all with the same brush .

  6. Who welcomed the Africans with open arms last year and ensured smooth immigration clearance , only to ‘lose’ them?
The knee jerk from Antiguans should be to the mastermind behind the Magic Mike Antigua Airways debacle!
Maybe if Berthold is given a vvip sponsored rapid visa clearance, he can make health, road, utilities & crime control come to equally speedy fruition.
    Let’s see what happens.

  7. I am bemused, how can Gaston say that, trying to exculpate him self from the smuggling if African migrants, oops! I get it, famous guy like ackon might ask question about the Africans drowning and the air peace guys, My bad.

  8. Are there not Visa Approval and Denial criteria? Are we suggesting that Immigration is allowing emotion to guide their professional judgemental not standard criteria? I think that they should be allowed to do their work. And their decisions respected.

  10. My knee jerked this morning.I almost fell when it happened. The Immigration Dept.must have reasons to denied anyone a Visa.Gaston Browne,a knee jerk reaction is not a reason.Sometimes,it is wiser to say nothing.

  11. Many of you are rather irresponsible with your commentary. The PM says that he will look into it to see how this can be resolved. This enthusiastic vlogger had been denied access to other Caribbean islands, where the decision was subsequently reversed.
    What’s the difference here?
It’s childish to suggest that we have something to hide when tourists from across the globe come to our shores daily.
He will eventually be granted entry and I’m sure his vlogging will be fruitful for our tourism product.
Let the negative energies stand on the sidelines and watch….

    • @Dave Ray,I am glad you could see into the future.Do you know, what and or how Gaston is thinking, mind reader.I forgot, you are his batty scratcher.

  12. The deal is done, Mr. Akron and you are some 10 months late but a lone African cannot assist the cause of the planners and for that alone, you are not welcome. You have made a judicious move by wanting to visit now. If you were a member of the unsuspecting team that arrived last year, you would’ve probably ended up between Antigua and St.Kitts like your country folks. Consider yourself fortunate so change your mind, run fast.

  13. Folks, Gaston is just scared that the world will see the rubbish heap that is Antigua. After Shirley Heights and English Harbour, what else is there to see? The tourists come and enjoy the beaches and the hotels and some don’t even leave the hotels. Just keep Antigua, the rubbish heap, away from the eyes of other countries.

  14. The immigration had to have reasons to denied the visa application and if the pm override the immigration all immigration officers should strike , gaston clown too damm fast and study what what don’t concern him .

  15. @The Dr. Ray
Please put your PHD to use and leave chatGBT alone

First Berthold Kobina Ackon photo accompanying this article from his Facebook page, is photoshopped image with the PM of Guyana.

That’s the First clue; he is a fraud.

Where is the evidence that this person Ackon inceases visitors to any Caribbean destination?

Most of the so called vloggers who run around are simply looking for free lunch and lodging. Some write articles in limited circulation magazines to create their credibility, they get dinner at Le Bistro, lunch at Nobu or 3 days at Varada.

Many of these Vlogers are just drifters They have no digital measurements to prove after one sees their blog the view look at the destination Country ads and latter book travel to that destination.
Those type of measurements are standard for influencers today.

I doubly this character, has any such thing other than his Facebook followers. This man is a fraud.

Gaston says he is looking into. Fraudsters have a thing about fraudsters; they admire them.

Gaston needs to look into people dying at the Medical Center as the Government is now faced with what may be malpractice and negligence case.

Gaston heads a government that has a duty of care. In the absence of a Triage protocol, the duty of care was breached.
Damages occurred, the plaintiff suffered harm (still born baby); as a direct result of the breach ( yet to be proven in court) but is easily proven.

Rather than turning around the medical care and the Courts physical conditions; The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda is looking into why a “Grifter” was denied an entry visa.
One can not make this shit up.

Antigua has stunning natural beauty, in as much as it is frequently in an unkept physical condition. It’s unrivaled natural beauty is why tourists visit and for no other reason.

Bloggers like this young man are nothing but Grifters.

    • Lol@chatgbt.
If you have followed this young vlooger on socal media, you would not made these inaccurate comments about him. His Live videos have appeared in my notification page a few times. I have watched him some of his presentations. They are rather impressive. He has a huge fan base.
Everything should not be about partisan politics.

What I’ve noticed though, is that the ones who comment negatively on these threads are doing nothing productively to move the needle forward as it relates to the growth and development of Antigua and Barbuda.
      I

      • @Dave Ray, you still prying to push your nose further up Gassy Ass? Are you still singing to be awarded the fictional head of diaspora affairs in NY?
Why is Gassy interfering with emigration work? Is Antigua a Banana republic, when there are people that are hired to exercise their discretion?

    • The man is not a fraud you idiot. that pic was taken from a video he did with the president of guyana recently. the young man has been an ispiration to many black aficans in his homeland and abroad for man than 7 years. People always love TO FEAR WHAT THEY DONT KNOW, AND SPEAK LIKE THEY KNOW EVERYTHING.

  16. Why would the PM need to investigate this?

This is why we have a chief immigration officer. But also curious as to why he was initially denied entry into Jamaica?

  17. His YouTube name is WodeMaya, take a look. He ain’t no scammer and he has over 1million subscribers. This guy has meet Hon Motley, Guyana president, Germany foreign minister and many more. All he does is cover the history of the marks left behind of slaves rhat were taken across the Atalantic to the Caribbean and to invite Caribbean brothers and sisters to visit Africa. He has a huge house in Gjana and several Air BNBs in Ghana, he needs nothing from Antigua but history.

Though the PM should not get involved in due process, this will make our services look like they do not know what they are doing. I think Woda Maya was a case of judging a book by it’s cover by the immigration services https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wode_Maya an honest mistake.
He is an authentic Ghanian vlogger who has done nothing but made people of African descent look good and look inwards for solutions to our problems rather than looking to our past colonizers for help. 100s of vlogger copy his style. Part of what he is “attempting” to solve for are these poor perceptions caused by media, mistrust we have for one another in the region and all the way to Africa. He started out as “the annoying village boy” but has become quite adept in telling stories. He only shows the good sides of culture and what makes us different and yet unique. After going to most African countries, I think he is now visiting people of African descent in the Diaspora, I think he has been to Brazil and is now visiting Caribbean with the message unity and pride in our heritage. He just did not realize Antigua & Barbuda is the Switzerland of the Caribbean, took our processes for granted due to his fame and may be should have instead requested an invite from one of his many subscribers or a Youtuber of which many are likely on island.
