Police Week Kick-start with Hiking Competition

Members of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda are getting set to Kick-start Police Week 2023, with a hiking competition to Monk’s Hill on Saturday, August 26.

Competitors are set to move off from the Grace Hill Moravian Church in Liberta at 6am, and traverse across the rugged terrains of Monk’s Hill in teams of three.

The hike will end up at the Cobbs Cross Primary School, where a prize giving ceremony will follow.

Sixteen teams, comprising of police officers and members of the public have registered to participate in the first of several pre-events leading up to official start of police week.

This year, the police are celebrating 55 years of police week under the theme; ” With Dignity and Pride, we are Working Together with our Community-Police Week, 2023 .

The official week runs from September 10th to 17th and will commence with a divine church service at the Swetes Wesleyan Holiness Church starting at 9 am.

A number of other events are also planned during the celebration, including the first-ever King’s Show at the Antigua Recreation Grounds, Police Calypso Monarch Competition, the Malcolm Nicholas Cup Competition, and the eagerly anticipated theatrical presentation by the Police Drama Group.

The Police Administration is expressing thanks to the general public for their continued support of police week over the years.

Members of the public can look forward to a line-up of excitement for Police Week 2023, as the police continue to work together with the community.
