The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is calling on the public to turn in illegal firearms and ammunition as part of its ongoing Amnesty Month campaign.
In an appeal made through its “What’s Happening Wednesday” update, the force is assuring citizens that no arrests or prosecutions will follow the voluntary surrender of weapons. The initiative, which promises total confidentiality, allows individuals to hand over firearms safely and anonymously at any police station across the country.
Officers say the aim is to encourage responsible action and reduce the number of illegal weapons in circulation.
“Now is the time to do the right thing,” the statement read. “Let’s take this opportunity to protect our families, neighbourhoods, and future generations.”
The police also announced that rewards will be given for credible information that leads to the recovery of illegal firearms. The initiative underscores a broader commitment to public safety, with the force reaffirming: “Your safety is our mission. Your cooperation is our strength.”
Authorities are urging anyone in possession of an unlicensed weapon—or who may have knowledge of such items—to use the amnesty window to help make communities safer.
Amnesty Month is expected to run throughout April.

So if someone has a loved one who was murdered and the case is unsolved and one of the guns received is the murder weapon the case will remain unsolved? The Police won’t try to apprehend the individual to get information that could solve a murder case? Not a good look if you are trying to say nothing will be done if the weapons are linked to serious unsolved crimes….
Mmm this don’t mean no guns around ull really thing gun man ago turn their guns in give me a f in break smh
Remember that the hot weapons are not welcome. So said the lawless chief.
remember the hot guns get stolen and sold many times the recipient is not informed of the weapons hotness…
This is a great plan for me. I get a gun, commit as many crimes as I like then I can turn it in. No evidence collected, crucial ballistics disappear and destroyed then I can go get another one and start all over again. Dat sweet me bad.
