Police Seek Canadian Divers in Probe of Alleged Parham Human Remains

Bodies Found Underwater

Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers says investigators are working to verify the identities of Canadian divers allegedly linked to reports of human remains discovered beneath the waters off Parham.

Speaking at a police press briefing on Thursday, Jeffers said officers are contacting the Canadian Consulate to determine whether Canadian researchers were conducting deep-sea dives in the area.

“We are trying to touch base with the Canadian Consulate to find out which Canadians were doing the diving,” he said, adding that investigators must first identify the divers before confirming the reported location.

Jeffers said the Royal Police Force and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard are prepared to carry out their own underwater search once credible information is obtained.

The investigation follows unverified social media claims that divers accompanying Canadian researchers found several human remains about three nautical miles east of Parham Dock. Police searched the area last weekend but were unable to locate the site described in the reports.

  1. So allegedly, local and/or Canadian divers found several bodies three nautical miles east of Parham dock but they never provided their GPS diving coordinates or even spoke directly to the Antiguan coast guard? While standard GPS does not work underwater, every diver I know tracks their entry and exit coordinates with their Garmin or Apple Watch.

Without that information, the coast guard divers would be looking for a needle in a haystack providing that the claims are true and not a hoax.

  2. Our poor lost Police. Did they think of contacting our own Immigration for this information before contacting the Canadian Embassy, based some where else? What a joke. If Immigration can’t say if Canadian divers entered Antigua then the system is broken. And if as the repirt6had stated they were here to examine reefs they must be working with the archeological department or environment division or
National Parks. Our Police has no investigative brain. No wonder they cannot solve a crime.
