  1. Yet another shooting in broad daylight and still no serious gun control measures in place. When will our government wake up?

  2. This is what happens when we have lenient laws and no real consequences for violent crimes. Time to toughen up our justice system.

  3. A 43-year-old dead, and young lives critically injured. Where is the outrage? Are we just going to accept this as the new normal?

  4. if the police can’t protect us at a bus station, how can we feel safe anywhere in this country?

  5. We keep hearing about ‘ongoing investigations,’ but where are the results? It’s time for accountability and real progress in fighting crime.

  6. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Let’s come together as a community to support them during this difficult time.

  7. Commendable effort by the police in seeking public assistance. It’s crucial we all play our part in maintaining safety.

  8. Cannot believe that something like this has happened in Antigua at this day and age. Besides all the other incidents that have being going on, this is horrible; four lives could have been lost in this one shooting. Not only police, but government responsible arms should jump on this case not only looking for suspects, but doing much more very quickly; going into the roots causes i.e., motives, perpetrator(s) profile including all aspects of person(s), organized or ransom act, mental health, origin and reach of arm utilized;!ample, immediate and true search of assailant(s), avoiding flight, manipulation, loopholes and truth of the matters to go down the drain as have happened before in robbery and other serious incidents. If this is not taken very seriously and dealt with on a wide scope, then we will become very careful and fearful of going out and allowing our family members to be out and about as always done, not fathoming that such crime could take place on a day like yesterday in St John’s, Antigua. Very sad and worrisome times ! Urgent Action Needed ! UAN !

  9. I heard someone call in on a radio station to complain that a police woman just pass a young man in the public and pulled off what seem to be a potential mask pulled up as a cap, I say oh boy the police hands are tied, I guess if the police goes around and pull out the spliff from these young boys mouth we will have the public cursing the police for cruelty, the onliest violence I saw of late committed by a so call inspector of police, who slammed a young lady head on a concrete or wooden object on the ground, which was bad or criminal policing, but now back to the crimes at hand, there should be profiling by the police, go around the country taking pictures of hooded people for data comparison whether black or white. And the gun issues has been perpetrated by the second prime minister and his brother whom he later exposed to attain the prime minister status, also a syrian gang who are corporate sponsor of lots of public venture is continuing this gun proliferation in the society, but I don’t think they are in it alone, I believe they paying a government official to use our country’s sovereign license to purchase arms internationally for transhipment elsewhere even though a few guns are sold on the street here, these syrians and other white people we are fearful and tip toe around them, no black police will kick in white properties door as they will do a black person, some people are still scared of white people. Come in Rodney arm the police with camera to create data base for future investigation, a thief wearing a hoodie don’t own more than five of that apparel, so you will be able to zoom in on these robbers.

Long jail sentences for tragic carnival shooting case
Shelton Hunte and Trevorn Francis, two men who engaged in “a disgraceful shootout” in public during Carnival 2013, have been jailed for 33 years and 24 years respectively for the injury they caused to an innocent bystander, Judith Wynter, who was left paralysed below her breasts.
The maximum sentence for wounding with intent to murder is 35 years.
When punishing the duo yesterday, High Court Justice Iain Morley noted, “It was a disgraceful shootout of six rounds between rivals among family crowds, with an armed pursuit of Francis and a further discharge in a public place of 13 rounds.”
