POLICE SEARCH FOR MALE SUSPECT IN RECENT MURDER
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, July 19, 2026
The police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and apprehending a male suspect believed to be involved in the murder of 29-year-old Leyandrew Hubbard of Potters.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, the police received a report of a shooting on Ladoo Road in Potters.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Hubbard lying unresponsive along the southern side of the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead at approximately 12:37 p.m.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Hubbard and several other persons were playing cards beneath a shed when a lone gunman approached the group and opened fire.
A second man, of Urlings, was also shot during the incident. He sustained a gunshot wound to his back. He was transported by the Emergency Medical Services to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains in critical condition and is expected to undergo surgery.
The police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have information that can assist with identifying or locating the suspect, to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914, or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
The Police Administration is also appealing directly to the suspect to surrender himself to the police without delay at any police station.
Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police and the entire Police Administration extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Leyandrew as they mourn his tragic passing.

Dam! As a young man It’s either you strapping, or you have to get strapped to protect yourself, but seriously if you’re involved in some shit, you better be strapped at all times. Yes crime is definitely out of control especially in the gun arena, and our police to are not doing enough, or simply not prepared to do what it takes. The big picture is, in a country where just a few years ago guns were a few, authorities still failed to informed us as to how all these guns got on our streets, and are presently in the hands of the lowest of the low. They took out Jun-Jun sometime back, but how long were they aware of him and his circle? I remembered traveling on sumner vacation toTortola, St Thomas and St Croix in the mid seventies and loved and enjoyed every minute, today just as Wadadli gun crimes have took over.
The government should get solar powered streetlight with camera combination out of china to replace all existing streetlights system and help the police and government solve crimes.
Yet another victim of growing gun crime in the Antigua. What the hell is going on? Is this a result of all these amnesties for illegals, or/and home grown gang activities?
And what a coincidence that as soon as the 2 days of security measures for the CHOGM delegates were completed recently, that crimes and murders have kick-started once again?
Get the police and security forces back on our streets now!!!
Or the criminal element will eventually overwhelm the country…

Guns are be transferred by boat. Coast guards are not doing their job. People are getting paid for unauthorized vessels to land on our soil. Vessels are landing @ Nelson’s dock yard and other harbours at night without immigration and coast guards clearance. That’s a FACT!
