Are the family not licensed firearm holders? It seems as though we need to eradicate these criminal ourselves.
Any CCTV recording? Remember a policeman cannot provude or replace private security for our personal space. In this technological age, we cannot depend on yesterday’s methods to combat today’s brazen, cold and savvy criminals. Protection of your family first, and of material possessions thereafter must be your number one priority.
The Police, even on their best day, cannot guarantee the safety of each and every resident.
Cold, hard facts!
This is concerning. The delay in the police response only adds to the frustration of the community.
Hodges Bay??? Ain’t that the “rich people” area??? Rich a teef from rich??? wow!
Stealing a generator is one thing, but the delayed response to the break-in is even more troubling.
Disappointing to hear about the police delay. The community needs more timely protection.
A break-in is bad enough, but when the police take too long to respond, it only worsens the situation.
A quicker response could have led to the apprehension of the thief. This needs to be a learning moment for the police.
Always something else in that place… SMH
Legalise razor wire and electrical fencing for private properties, Allow traps and snares on private property. Make the regulations for acquiring a licensed firearm easier for home and business owners. It us time to protect the people who contribute to the islands economy.. and some do more than others and deserve protection or at least the means to protect themselves. Also the courts need to be less concerned about the rights if criminals. They break the law and have little concern about others propwery ir their wellbeing. So as far as I am concerned they are a waste of oxygen oxygen don’t deserve a place in society. Enough now… if its a lawless society the popple of Antigua want then at least be honest about it. If now then it’s time to get tough on those elements in our communities and demand their removal and restrict their freedoms. Ask China how they deal with these kind of criminals. Because whatever we are or aren’t doing in Antigua isn’t working. All we are doing here is allowing crime to increase maybe our society our morals and ethics and our culture are the contributing factors and this is why crime is rampant and no one can control the youth
Antigua is the thieving capital of the Caribbean and this is not trying to be funny, it happens in high places too so the common man is following the example. Sorry if the truth hurts
Doesn’t surprise me. Had a recent incident where my neighbor noticed a suspicious person in my yard. When we reported it to the police, they said they couldn’t come as they didn’t have transportation. Mind you, the police station is no more than a 3 minute walk away from my house and the neighbor who went to the station was driving. I also would’ve seen the person walking while making my way home to see if anything was stolen and called to inform the officers of the culprits location. Still no action on their end aside from taking the report and saying they would get back to us.
If it happens again I’ll just handle it myself. Lesson learned.
Let’s not forget that delays may have caused the brutal butchering of Jane Finch. This is not the time for police or anyone at all to move slow. If this continues persons may start taking justice into their own hands. If that happens then it will be chaos from there onwards.
I don’t know when the people of this country will wake up and understand that the Police are useless, indifferent and demotivated. There is no leadership, starting with an incompetent Minister and a former Commissioner who was always absent from the country. It is high time we take the bull by the horns and manage our own security. Don’t look to the police for help.
The Police are asking the public to do their work for them. ‘IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING ‘ . Now something was said, they were a no-show. If we want immediate action from them , we have to always report that suspects and observed hauling staches of marijuana and money.
