Renewal of Firearms License

The Commissioner of Police wishes to remind ALL licensed firearms users that their licenses become due and payable by 1st May each year, in accordance with Section 41, Subsection (4) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 171.

As part of the renewal process, firearm holders are required to present their firearms to the Licensing Officer at Police Headquarters between the hours of 8:30 am–1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, to be examined.

No license will be granted without a physical examination of the firearms. Anyone failing to comply with this notice will have their licenses revoked and firearms confiscated.

Meanwhile, police continue to urge the public to take advantage of the gun amnesty by voluntarily surrendering illegal firearms or ammunition without fear of arrest or prosecution at Police Headquarters.

Your full cooperation is solicited in this matter.

  1. I think this date is a mistake. Every year firearms must be renewed by the end of May. Not by May 01st. This needs to be clarified. Commissioner?
