Police are investigating a break-in at Ministry Center in Cooks Extension after thieves stole musical and audio equipment valued in the thousands of dollars.
The burglary is believed to have occurred over a two-day period while the church was unattended. Investigators say the suspects forced open a bathroom door, then entered the sanctuary and hall, removing speakers, a smart television, a transformer, electrical cords and a tripod before leaving through the same entry point.
The matter has been classified as sacrilege, reflecting the seriousness of crimes against places of worship.
Members of the congregation expressed shock, saying churches are meant to be safe spaces for worship and community activity. The incident has also renewed concerns about security at community facilities left unoccupied during the week.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
