Police are investigating an attempted arson after a fire was reported at a home at the junction of North Street and Deanery Lane in the early hours of 6 August.
A neighbour raised the alarm after spotting suspicious activity near the property’s front door. The homeowner said he was awakened by shouting and discovered a blaze at the entrance, which he quickly doused with a bucket of water, preventing major damage.
Officers at the scene found a black T-shirt in front of the metal burglar bar gate and damage to the glass door. Initial assessments suggest the fire was deliberately set.
Despite a search of the area, no suspect was found. Fire officials have since processed the scene as investigations continue.

Another great reason for cameras to be installed in strategic locations in and around the city from dickenson bay street to vivian richards street area, around the market and even a few on the outskirts (for example Harney Motors corner, Dees corner, Robinson corner, town house crossroads.
“…junction of North Street and Deanery Lane..”? There is NO such place. Deanery Lane is by public works area, and you kno where North Street is…
Editor, please correct the anomaly..
Sometimes I wonder why people are like this. These are the people we have to be aware of and that’s why we have to protect ourselves at all costs.
One of the reasons I think it’s wise to invest in security camera”s.
What could have caused this? Is there a beef somewhere. In any case that’s some evil thinking right there
Ah boi. Everyday is an episode in Antigua. The land of Crime
@ Rika, At least somebody agrees with me. Once I posted Antigua is the land of crime and I was taken to task mostly for political reasons, I do not see colour when it comes to politics, Antigua and Barbuda is my concern, my politics is not Gaston against whoever. I look beyond the smokescreen
