Police Press Release on Death of 18-year-old

1. There’s a back story to this shooting. I don’t say it’s right to happen to him but people aren’t mixing matters when you violate them ..

2. One can only hope that the prime minister and minister of legal affairs make some kind of offficial announcement about the rampant crime, especially youth crime in Antigua.

3. Opportunities that can take you places and all one has to do is put the work in. Lokk at the present Carifesta! a hundred plus youths, but instead of these youngster taking advantage of what’s before them, they decide on looking elsewhere, hence either prison or dead.
   Everyday you looked around we have youths traveling abroad to take part in some sporting event, we even now have swimming and table tennis, plus look at the many young females playing and dominating the steel pan, back then it was all about males.
   All am trying to say, back then we didn’t have all these Opportunities to take advantage of, maybe getting on Combine school and if Pat White or Guy likes you just perhaps, but still guns, robbery, much less the heart to take another youths life was furthest from our minds.
   It doesn’t matter if a police station just a block away, if they coming after you they coming and that’s the type of wicked, cold blooded individuals we have existing amongst us.

4. @Amethisyah. How many more statements do you want from government? Let us put the blame where it belongs. Where are the parents? Do they have any responsibility for bringing up their children? Do parents understand the responsibility of being a parent? It is time we start jailing parents – the mother and the absent father.

7. So the press release is that they are investigating the matter? Chupsss. This shooting is an absolute mystery with no solid facts as to why the boy was shot. One would assume he was unarmed or that would have been disclosed by the police in the first instance to justify this loss of life. The reckless discharging of firearms by police in this instance needs to be thoroughly investigated and the responsible officers reprimanded or discharged from service.

    ……. If Not the Administration of the Police Force, nor the Officer who did the SHOOTING, then DEFINITELY The Trainer who Trained THIS Officer in the Proper use of Firearms…… And Do Not DARE to tell me that THIS Police Officer doing THIS Shooting was NOT TRAINED …….

How many more young lives have to be destroyed before the police start taking responsibility for their actions

21. How is this even acceptable? A young man dies in your custody, and the first step is to ask the public for information? Step one should have been responsibility, not PR. The community sees through this, and we’re furious

22. Has the Officer been removed from active duty, questioned or detained? Is his story consistent with the reality? Mr Commissioner, transparency starts with naming the Officer involve.
