Police Officer Injured in Line of Duty
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Wednesday, 12th November, 2025
Police are investigating an incident in which a police officer and another man were injured during an altercation on Lower All Saints Road.
Reports indicate that around 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, a member of the Police Force was in the vicinity of Sammy’s Supermarket when he observed two men involved in a fight.
The officer intervened, and during the process, one of the men reportedly used a broken glass bottle to stab him on the right side of his face.
In defence to the attack, the officer discharged his service firearm and shot his attacker. Both men were subsequently transported by ambulance to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where they were treated for injuries that were later deemed non-life-threatening.
The matter remains under active investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Don’t worry. Be happy! Crime is down!
There should be a mandate where they should be no less than two officers on patrol at anytime.
Well done officer. The law should be respected and violent disrespect for the law should be met with necessary force.
Preliminary comment :
If this bootleg of a human wasn’t shot. Today we would be asked to provide information. Let us not forget the potters incident.
Officers should take no chances and show no mercy when met with violent disrespect from the law.
Sometimes it good to just see people in their fight and move on cause look here now. Did he identify himself as an officer?
At no time shall the same law enforcement agency investigate itself for potential criminal charges, they can do so for administrative/internal proceedings but the criminal investigation should be done by a different entity with the authority to make arrest of law enforcement officer that probable cause shows they committed a crime.
In this case, if the officer acted lawfully, I commend him for his act of bravery in protecting life and peace.
The officer put himself in harm’s way. Tek the shot. We would all complain if the officer had just gone his way or sit down and wait for backup
Clearly he doesn’t meet the UPP standard. You have to shot a pregnant woman deader to be fit for UPP.
Good for the officer he did the right thing, speedy recovery. Antigua need to give the officers pepper spray so they could use that if a fight bruk out to disperse or break up the two individuals.
No worry, we still have the lowest crime rate in the Caribbean. Isn’t that so Faithful National #1, something to be proud about
The headline for this news article is like ordering a chicken only pepperpot and getting one with chicken and pork…
