Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting in Ottos

The police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on McDonald Street in Ottos during the early hours of Friday, 1 August 2025.
It was reported that around 1:30 a.m., 54-year-old man from Ottos was walking home when he was approached by two unknown men.
Both suspects were masked; one was wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans pants, and the other was dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans pants.
They were described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall.
They reportedly confronted the Ottos resident and demanded money.
A struggle ensued, during which one of the assailants, who was armed with a firearm, discharged his firearm and shot the man, and later fled the scene on foot in a northern direction along Independence Drive.
Police arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was treated for his injury which considered to be non-life-threatening.
The police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

The government should get to china and order solar power led streetlight with camera combination sim equipped unit recording video and audio, these camera streetlight unit should deployed all over Antigua to fight crime identification, I hope some government officials listen to my cry, I am not a celebrated big name person but my ideas are valid.
Good idea for security street lights etc for fighting crime. We need police and community cooperation to help fight crime. When a citizen assist they call them snitch, … but the evil people don’t want to be exposed. But my prayer is being answered every day.

Hey! Crime don’t have nothing to do with UPP or ALP, I can agree that the kind of celebration Gaston gives to people of opulence is dangerous, where he say he can sniff them out, and empower them ahead of the needs of the citizens, promoting conspicuous consumption, in china a millionaire child can’t display glut or show off wealth, or else it’s a punishable crime, the people that Gaston brings like Oppenheimer PLH in Barbuda and the mention of $30 million USD for properties in Barbuda create the illusion of overnight wealth to these young people growing up in society, men take to crime and ladies take to prostitution. The atmosphere of the have and have not is quite conspicuous.
The empowerment of the people even through concessions as you give to white monopoly capital through our parliament like buffer zone and 30 years tax break could be granted to the citizens of this country, for example full duty free on home building materials, because after all we will be paying property tax forever, but no! we give government aide to rich white people that are beneficiaries of slave labor, I just believe that the commonwealth that the UK created is to continue school our leaders to become dealers and not thinkers. They are coconut, white inside and brown outside, so they care not for their people, this will solve crime if we love and care for our race first.
And when I said that Antigua should have been 10-15 years ahead of where they are right now, many of these ABLP fools didn’t have a clue as to what I was saying.
All the revenue that were collected from the economy between 2013- 2025, with about a 2yr down turn because of COVID, just went up in smoke..where Is the money GB…nothing to show for it in the way of safety and infrastructure.
You could have at least use some of the ill-gotten gains from the Alpha and install a nation wide camera and security system, similar to what the British did early in the 80’s, where you can track every corner of a small town and surrounding villages of St johns.
Just start with the hot spots like St John’s at least. My goodness me.
All you would need to do now is just watch the movement of these criminals or those that are bringing in the guns and drugs at night.
Antigua is 15yr behind when it comes to the safety of it’s citizens.
