Police in Antigua and Barbuda are investigating the possibility of co-conspirators in the murder of 9-year-old Chantel Crump, as authorities continue their probe into the tragic case that has gripped the nation.

During the *Post-Cabinet Media Briefing, Chief of Staff Ambassador Lionel Hurst confirmed that law enforcement remains focused on determining whether the suspect in custody acted alone or had assistance.

“The Commissioner of Police has assured the government that the investigation remains vigorous and that they are intent on uncovering any additional persons who may have been involved in this terrible crime,” Hurst stated.

Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about potential accomplices but have emphasized that every lead is being pursued.

The primary suspect, who has already admitted to the crime, remains in police custody and is expected to be officially charged and brought before the court. Since this is a Capital case, the individual will be provided with legal representation before trial proceedings begin.

Law enforcement officials have also warned against misinformation circulating on social media, stressing that unverified claims could jeopardize the integrity of the case.

The murder has sparked widespread outrage across Antigua and Barbuda, with vigils and calls for stronger protections for children. Advocacy groups have demanded harsher penalties for crimes against minors, while community members have urged the police to remain transparent in their handling of the case.

Residents have also *called for increased security around schools, with some parents voicing concerns over recent reports of attempted abductions. The government has responded by deploying plainclothes police officers in school areas and accelerating plans for the ‘Chantel Alert’, a national child abduction warning system.

As police continue their investigations, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may assist in ensuring justice for Chantel Crump.

  1. People, be calm amidst the storm. It takes time to process with an investigation of this magnitude.

  3. This is real life, it’s not an episode of law and order that’s over and done in 1 hour… the case needs to be developed properly with all tees and eyes dotted… just be patient or this woman can walkout of court a free woman if they screw up a simple detail!!

  4. Fair treatment for the suspect= water board, plastic bags in the head for short period,a onion stick in her mouth, more water board stuff, deprive sleep with NEON LIGHTS,etc, etc.

  6. Let the FBI or Scotland Yard give her a lie detecter test have nothing against locals but we need detectives with years of experience behind her tail, no one should walk free from this

  7. I don’t trust the system, murders, kidnapping, corruption always go unanswered. We need justice for Chantel and swift punishment for that wicked, evil woman and anyone else who’s involved. What’s the motive? If the Commissioner and the government don’t want us to know, it will be short-lived like our attention span. We need credible investigation and answers. What’s really going on?
