Police in Antigua and Barbuda are searching for a man known as “Benji” after a violent attack on a 73-year-old Gray’s Hill resident early Wednesday morning.
According to investigators, Bernard Benjamin was sitting in his living room at around 7 a.m. on 10 September when an intruder forced open his front door and struck him in the head with a glass bottle.
The pensioner suffered a bleeding wound to his forehead and was taken by emergency medical services to hospital for treatment.
Officers believe the suspect, who is thought to be from the same community, fled the scene before police arrived. A search of the area was carried out but he remains at large.
The incident was reported to Gray’s Farm Police Station by a neighbour who witnessed the aftermath. Senior officers confirmed that the investigation is continuing and have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the suspect’s capture.

Is English becoming an extinct language? Nowhere in this report have I seen the witness’ name being mentioned. Nor did I see that the ‘neighbour’ witnessed the attack.
The neighbour saw the ‘aftermath’ of the attack. Could have seen the elderly man bleeding. Who is a neighbour? It does not have to be a person next door or even two doors down, could be someone passing by or someone from the neighbourhood or the next door neighbour. That person made the call, possibly to save the elderly gentleman’s life.
Come on people, read and comprehend.
