Police Provide Update for Denial of UPP Request for Whistle Stop in Rural East
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Wednesday, 12th November 2025
The Police Administration has denied a request from the United Progressive Party (UPP) to host a whistle stop activity within the Constituency of Rural East.
The decision follows careful consideration of several operational factors, particularly the time of day proposed, which coincides with a period of heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic, among other security issues.
While the request for the whistle stop was declined, the Police Administration has granted permission for a motorcade to be held on Sunday, 16th November 2025, based on a prior application submitted by the party. Formal communication confirming this approval was issued to the General Secretary of the United Progressive Party on Tuesday, 11th November 2025.
Acting Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers stated,
“The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda remains committed in its duty to maintain law and order while facilitating lawful public and political activities. Our decisions are guided solely by public safety considerations and the efficient use of police resources. We urge the continued cooperation of all citizens and organizations as we work together to ensure a peaceful and orderly environment for everyone.”
The Police Administration continues to operate in the best interest of every citizen and resident of Antigua and Barbuda, and remains committed to upholding the highest standards of fairness, professionalism, and integrity in the execution of its duties.

This is ignorance in my opinion.
Firstly, the reason for the denial should have been communicated in the first instance.

I guess the traffic on the road is a new thing to the police force.
Maybe they (the U.P.P.) should have asked to hold the event from 12:00am midnight and see if that would be better for the police force.

This decision is Politically “Strategic” and nothing else.
Acting Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers in his own way is suffering under the weight of not being appointed Commissioner of Police.
In The Acting Commissioner’s view, he is between a rock and a hard place.
He is seeking an off ramp to please his bosses, as he bears the brunt of public criticism.
Jeffers could eventually be appointed Commissioner of The Royal Police of Antigua and Barbuda.
Should the time of being named Commissioner arrive before he resigns; his reputation will be in taters as “a yes man”; who can’t make any decisions on his own. Even the simplest of matter that has political implications.

Poor planning bad infrastructure is always among the first thing to determine is a country is being managed good or bad.

Sooooo the police are also under the political influence of this government. Not really a surprise to anyone with a modicum of intelligence.
I recall many stories from the elderly in my family who can recall back in the day when the majority living here were born and bred Antiguans; and if there was any political disputes that they didn’t agree with, the indigenous population would hold the government to task – with thousands hitting the streets demonstrating at will.
Now fast forward to 2025, where there are still many demonstrations. But here’s the BIG difference:
Antiguans living and residing here are now in the MINORITY, with many other nationalities now outnumbering Antiguans, due to (Gaston Browne) ABLP’S handing out of passports for votes.
How then can anyone be surprised at the low turnout of indigenous Antiguans at demonstrations to modern day demos.
The foreign nah come out, why would they they’ve got their citizenship from Gaston. The Antiguans that would like to, cannot because they are holding on to 2-3 jobs to keep their heads above, ‘financial’ waters; and the ABLP supporters are just way too ignorant to see it.
And those that do, are the ones who are the law makers and running the country to the ground.
While the poor UPP are chasing their own tails trying to get the ABLP to be a lot more transparent to the public and expose their wutless behaviour.
