Police have completed their investigation into the death of 18-year-old Khaleel Simon and have forwarded the matter to the coroner’s office for further review.

The update was provided during a recent police press briefing by the head of the Criminal Investigations Department, Superintendent Lisbon Michael, who confirmed that the investigative phase of the case has now concluded.

“The investigation into that matter is now completed, and that matter will be submitted to the coroner very soon,” Michael said.

The development comes after months of public interest and speculation surrounding the circumstances of Simon’s death.

Authorities did not disclose additional details about the findings of the investigation, but the coroner’s review will determine the next steps in the process.

Simon, who was killed in Bolans on his birthday by a police officer.

Simon’s death has become a flashpoint for anger over what many describe as unchecked police power, with calls intensifying for the officer involved to be removed from duty pending the outcome of an investigation.

Family members led several protests, expressing grief and frustration at the lack of answers.

Relatives said they believe the officer should have been suspended immediately, arguing that the continued presence of the officer on the job undermines confidence in the process.

For Simon’s grandmother, who raised him, the loss has shattered what little trust she said remained between the community and law enforcement.

The protests were marked by raw emotion. Relatives wept openly while supporters invoked broader concerns about police accountability and corruption.

Some protesters called for systemic reforms, describing the incident as part of a wider pattern of abuse of power.

  1. The worse criminals are some of the the ones with badges, and those in high places.

The system cover for itself..but I will stress, that there is a right way to do things, and I am confident that their are good people out there who can get the job done and with the highest integrity that has been bestowed upon all of us to be decent minded people, just not with this administration, I have no confidence in their integrity.

  2. So I’m waiting to see WHO IS THIS OFFICER??! Does anyone know?? Why is it kept secret but the public could do any lil thing and their name and picture is put on front street!?

    ANYONE KNOW WHO SHOT HIM??

  3. Justice for Khaleel, when dem have problems they call their friends.Friends in high places mean poor people get left behind all the time.
Trust my family do not rest and justice will be served.

  4. Superintendent Michael you are being deliberately deceptive on this matter.
I know you and the police administration will blame the media for my critique.
    Please don’t.
Do not run from your duty and responsibilities in a bid to protect anyone.
As I read the headlines it say that investigations are complete.
Complete investigations from the police means that they have preferred a charge or are before the public to say that we find no criminal culpability on the part of anyone and the matter is closed.
It does not mean shifting your duty to the Coroner.
In the first paragraph of this story it say that the matter is complete and has been forwarded to the Coroner.
A forwarded matter doesn’t have to take a year.
It does not require a plane ride.
A dispatcher takes it over in a few minutes it has arrived.
In paragraph three it says the matter will soon be dispatched to the Coroner’s office.
The important words in that paragraph are “will be”.
    Which is it Superintendent Michael?
Is it before the Coroner or do you intend to send it off pretty soon.
Are you being deliberately misleading, Mr Michael?
Now Mr Michael, you need not send any file to the Coroner.
Once you have completed your investigations and found sufficient evidence to sipport a charge of murder you do not have to forward any file to the Coroner.
Even if you have done so you can still proceed to charge for murder.
Once a charge of murder has been initiated it automatically halts the Coroner’s Inquest until the determination of the murder, manslaughter or infanticide charge.
So sending the file to the Coroner is seeking a way out of your responsibility to initiate murder charges in the Mannie Jamss and Khaleel Simon cases.
The evidence to support murder charges in the two instances are overwhelming.
Familiarize yourself with the Coroner’s Act.
    Stop wasting time.
    Stop shifting responsibilities.
    Coroners do not investigate.
    DPPs do not investigate.
The only one who investigates is the police.
They have the responsibility and duty to initiate the appropriate charge on completion of their investigations.
So when the head of CID comes to the public and makes two different statements he is being disengenious.
He is tarnishing the image of the police force.
He is forcing the public to conclude that he is seeking to protect members of the force who are involved in the two deaths.
    STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Investigations complete???
    So what are the charges?
    Who have/has been charged?
    Police please stop it!!!
If you have not done that your investigations are not complete.
You job is to investigate and initiate charges.
If for any reason you cant find criminal responsibility on the part of anyone tou come to the press and inform the nation.
However coming to the press and advising that a file has been forwarded to the Coroner is not completed Investigations.
Since when have the police been unable to identify the appropriate charge for anyone in Antigua?
We know that they often give duplicitous charges.
Do we remember the statement by the former DPP of the police throwing mud on the wall hoping that some will stick?
What is different here that the police cant find a single charge?
Is it that they are protecting their own?
Now, that they have completed Investigations into the Khaleel Simon case what happen to the Mannie James case?
Stop attempting to fool the public.
If you have completed Investigations prefer charges or charges.
There is possible murder, manslaughter, discharging fireamrn in public.
Let us not forget that stray bullets went through the house of a village in the case of Khaleel Simon.
Why is there need to slow the process rather than doing what’s right?
And what’s right is preferring the appropriate charge against whoever.
