Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers has warned violent offenders that they will face an aggressive response from law enforcement as security operations intensify ahead of Carnival.
Speaking during a news conference Thursday following a series of fatal shootings, Jeffers said police would no longer allow criminals to terrorize communities.
“We are tired of you coming in and driving fear in the community,” Jeffers said. “We’re going to turn it around and reverse that fear back to you. We’re coming for you.”
He said police have developed operational strategies aimed at making it more difficult for offenders to evade capture.
“If you decide that you’re going to come into the net, I want you to know when you come in, it’s not going to be very easy for you to get out,” Jeffers said.
The commissioner confirmed that enhanced Carnival security operations are already being introduced, with additional officers and resources expected to become increasingly visible across the country.
He said police would deploy every available intelligence capability and investigative tool to identify, apprehend and bring offenders before the courts.
Jeffers also addressed a social media video that allegedly threatened police officers.
“You don’t go around checking police,” he said. “You will be getting a visit from us, sir — not long from now.”
The commissioner urged residents to report suspicious activity, saying public cooperation remains critical to preventing and solving crimes.

Money talks. Offer money to those who give good credible information on criminals, stash houses and drug dens. One thing we no as fact black people will turn on each other when money is involved. THIS IS A FACT. So use the greed for something good for once. Informants are good in every society.
If it only takes a couple hundred dollars to get votes, offer it the same for turning in criminals. SIMPLE.

Look Commissioner Everton Jeffers, with much respect sir, we’ve heard about security measures being put in place for the CHOGM delegates; now we are hearing similar noises about security for Carnival; and rightly so!
The former is showing those concerned that our authorities can keep the delegation safe whilst visiting; and the latter is to protect the tourism Dollar 💵
But shouldn’t there be equal concerns and measures for the people who actually live here?

Sir don’t just say it. Tell your officers to come of their lazy behind and do the work. In the times of Truehart Smith and Edric Potter did much better in catching those bad boys. You need to try to walk in their footsteps. The police more then anyone else know who these bad elements in our society are. Go shake the tree. Even in detective movies on tv you would see the police would first pick up the usual suspects and from their they would get leads to the perpetrators

I recall an advertisement “less talk, more action – the Royal Bank of Scotland”. Mr. Commissioner, based on the previous comments, people are tired of the good speeches – they want action. The bottom line, we want back Antigua – we want to live in a safe community.
As Commissioner of Police, your role in solving crimes is critical but the fight is bigger than you. We have to hold all the law enforcement agencies, the law makers, the court, our government and even the parents responsible. The law makers have to get serious when it comes to voilent crimes and make the penalties severe enough to be deterrants. The law enforcement agencies must work together to gather intel. They also have to rid themselves of the faulty inside personnels that are sharing information with criminals. The courts have to deliver verdicts without leniency to send a message. Our government must ensure that the law enforcement agencies are performing. Children can go astray but some parents really need to be mindful of what their children are doing.
We need information technology – Cameras, Cameras, Cameras. Again, we need hearing about cameras that will do great things but yet we see none.

When law enforcement has to be putting out these nonsensical threats to criminals, then you know for sure, law enforcement have lost the streets to the street thugs.

Well commissioner Jeffers it is obvious that your are reciting a poetry or something because if you were serious you do gone for cutie Benjamin and Gaston and other politicians that has committed crimes, even when Gaston told the criminals to go hide their hot guns, the police did nothing, if I were to get on the air waves and told criminals to stash or get rid of hot weapons I would be pulled in .
