Police Commissioner Highlights ABDF Emergency Assistance and Road Enforcement in Barbuda

Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers has highlighted recent cooperation between the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF), pointing to a nighttime medical evacuation from Barbuda as an example of effective collaboration between the country’s security agencies.

Jeffers said the Defence Force assisted authorities in transporting a young woman from Barbuda following a serious road accident, allowing her to receive urgent medical care.

He noted that the evacuation took place during the night after authorities encountered challenges arranging transportation off the island. According to the commissioner, the timely intervention by the Defence Force was critical and likely saved the woman’s life.

Jeffers expressed appreciation for the support provided by the ABDF, describing the operation as an example of the importance of coordination among national security agencies when responding to emergencies.

The commissioner also addressed general policing efforts on the sister island, noting that officers continue to carry out traffic enforcement operations in Barbuda.

He said police periodically conduct spot checks on vehicles as part of efforts to ensure that motorists comply with licensing requirements. During these checks, officers verify that vehicles are properly registered and licensed to operate on the road.

Jeffers warned that vehicles found to be operating without the proper licensing may be taken off the road as part of enforcement measures aimed at improving road safety and compliance with traffic laws.

  1. This is a “Cover Your Ass” statement Mr. Commissioner. No disrespect to you Sir. Knowing the facts I must respond accordingly.

If The Police Force on Barbuda were regularly enforcing the traffic laws against speeding; as well are carrying out checks on vehicles for upto date registration and insurance this may not have happened.
Barbuda Roads are being used by our Caribbean brothers as race tracks. No police in sight.

The accident was caused by a non-Antigua and Barbuda who was speeding and driving without Driver license in an uninsured vehicle.

While the headline reads: Police Commissioner Highlights ABDF Emergency Assistance and Road Enforcement in Barbuda.
It was a serous road incident and Emergency critical care was needed to save the victims legs.

She will grow up impaired and hopefully no further handicapp.
The Police Department is failing Barbudans in many different ways.
What written in the press release is an insult to the people of Barbuda, the young lady and her family.
The ABDF did step up and coordinate with the local Police to get her medical care. They must be commended for their efforts.

Crime on Barbuda has seen an uptick during this period when lots of Caribbean brothers and sisters are now living on Barbuda.
Items such as gas tanks are being swiped from Barbudans yard.
The Police needs to be on the roads of Codrington
Village and surrounding areas. That’s what community politics all about.
