Antigua and Barbuda’s Police and Customs officials have seized multiple drug shipments during a series of joint operations this week, resulting in several individuals being detained.

The largest haul came on Wednesday afternoon at Deep Water Harbour, where authorities discovered four cardboard boxes containing 11 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis.

The drugs, weighing just over 5 pounds, have an estimated street value of more than $30,000. A broker from English Harbour was detained, and three others – from Upper Gambles and Mount Pleasant – were taken in for questioning.

Earlier that morning, two boxes containing vials of cannabinoid oils were intercepted during an inspection at the General Post Office.

In a separate case later that day, officers uncovered a bottle of rum filled with alcohol and cannabis leaves while unpacking a container at the harbour.

The contents are valued at approximately $100.

All substances have been sent to Police Headquarters as investigations continue.

  1. Oops! My bad as a stupid police, why didn’t I wait for the person to come clear it at customs as the FBI in the USA would have done, they will even allow them to transport it to their property to get further search for illegal items, are they saying the American laws are broken and this was shipped without address or name, because the USA custom don’t allow shipment unless it is declared.
Don’t tell me the police are just clearing it safely from customs and take it out to gang to sell?

  2. Since when it’s a problem to have weed in your rum? Anywho. Thank God these substance are coming off the streets but by bit

  3. A regional justice framework sounds promising, but it has to be more than talk. We need timelines, funding, and measurable results.
