Pointe FM issued the following apology today after an interaction with a radio caller and MP Asot Michael on The Browne and Browne Show over the weekend.

The Board of Directors of Pointville Communications expresses regret at the statements uttered by Member of Parliament for St. Peters, Honourable Asot Michael, aimed at Miss Donna Chaia during the Browne & Browne show on Saturday 22, August 2020, on Pointe FM 99.1.

MP Michael’s presentation was not in keeping with the standards of the organization and was out of sync with the vision of positive information sharing which is the basis of the show.

We hereby apologise to Miss Donna Chaia and assure her that we will use this unfortunate and regretful encounter as an opportunity to enhance our quality controls to ensure that we significantly reduce the likelihood of any such occurrence to members of our community who are desirous of making meaningful public contributions via any of our platforms.

  2. The Browne & Browne is always breath of fresh air, whenever I listen to it. It is educating, informative and a medium to listen to, to hear truth to power. Last Saturday’s show was no exception. I will certainly agree that it was not prudent of the minister to behave the way he did, when Donna Chaia called…. However, in my view, I believed her call was an act of provocation….. When the call was made she first identified herself… Why? The caller could remain anonymous and if the voice was recognized, so be it. In addition, when criticisms are been made, the impact is greater felt as to who it is coming from…. Of course, I am not in a position to indicate whether or not that both individuals had a friction before the show, but I am of the view that the caller had a motive. Be that as it may, I certainly agree that Asot’s behaviour was uncalled for and certainly it was very professional of the host of the show along with Asot himself to offer to her an apology…..

  3. He was asked to account for his stewardship as an MP. It was an opportunity for him to highlight soberly his accomplishments from his personal funds mind you and his future plans for his beloved people of St Peters.

She was unfair in that the the developments in City West ie roads, housing and clinic etc was not done by the PM personally. It was done using public funds. Asot should have reminded her of the neglect of the current administration to the people of his constituency.

  4. @ KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR.

Now you can feel free to support the MOVEMENT and stop hiding behind the fence. Big Hypocrite you Guys are !!!!!

  5. PointeFM is the best radio station on the island. Their ethics and values are admirable. Asot should simply do his job and forget about replacing the PM, and he’ll get on just fine.
