Prime Minister Gaston Browne said residents in parts of St. Philip’s North are now receiving improved water supply after concerns were raised during a recent town hall meeting in the constituency.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne show on Pointe FM, Browne said the issue of inconsistent water pressure was brought directly to government officials during the public forum and was addressed within days.

At the meeting, which he described as well attended, Browne said constituents were invited to openly raise concerns.

“One lady in particular… wanted to raise the issue about water,” he said, noting that she spoke candidly about the challenges residents were facing .

Browne said he later received a call from a resident who had previously complained about low pressure.

“I had a call this morning from one of them who was actually complaining a few days ago,” Browne said. “And said, ‘Look, the water pressure… I’m up here so I’m powerful now.’”

He said residents are now “happy” and confirmed that water is flowing in the area.

According to Browne, the responsible minister had committed to ensuring water was restored by Saturday and to provide a more consistent supply. He said the quick response underscores the importance of direct community engagement.

“And this is why these engagements are very important — for us to reach the people, to go to them,” Browne said, adding that such forums form part of the government’s accountability efforts.

The improvements come amid campaigning in St. Philip’s North ahead of the March 16 by-election, triggered by the retirement of longtime MP Sir Robin Yearwood.

Browne said the town hall allowed residents not only to show support for the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party but also to press ministers on service delivery issues affecting their communities.

  1. Of course it does, especially with the St Phillip’s North by-election dey bout, this goes without saying Prime Minister. Everything is going to be working for now, ain’t it!

I’m surprised that the ABLP aren’t delivering leftover ham and turkeys from Christmas as well.

    Gaston funny so till… 🤣

  2. Wait! People this gullible? Because an election in that constituency you are now getting water. Water that you were promised i2014 in 14 days ,only now your concerns are been met. If this is acceptable by our electorate ,then antigua done .

  3. And then right after the election the water is off.

You have no respect for the electorate. Stringing them along on promises of water. Any government should be ASHAMED to have water delivery in this age, as an election promise.

    Utter BS!

  4. So why water was not running before that lady cried out. There are several Desalination Plants on the island of 108 square miles. So why are people, not getting water regularly and or daily. That is such bull chit.VOTE THEIR GREEDY HORESES ARSES OUT OF OFFICE,NOW.

  5. No surprise here. It takes election to bring water and to make other things happen. After the polls its back to normal programming.
