PM Says U.S. Attorney Preparing Pre-Action Letter Over Alfa Nero Defamation Claim
Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister says his U.S. attorney is preparing to issue a pre-action letter to American law firm Boies Schiller Flexner, demanding US$10 million in damages for alleged defamation related to what he calls the “Alfa Nero fabrication.”
In a statement posted online, the Prime Minister said the letter will be sent within 48 hours to partner David Boies. He did not provide details on the specific statements he claims were defamatory but accused the firm of spreading false information connected to the ongoing Alfa Nero controversy.
The post also indicated that former political leader Harold Lovell will be targeted next, suggesting additional legal action may follow.
The Alfa Nero, a superyacht seized in Antigua in 2023 and later sold by the government, has remained at the centre of political, legal and international disputes, spawning multiple court challenges and public exchanges.
Further details on the planned action have not yet been released.
