Prime Minister Gaston Browne told Parliament that Sir Robin Yearwood’s 50 unbroken years of service mark a milestone unmatched in Antigua and Barbuda, the Caribbean and the wider Commonwealth.
Speaking during the special sitting, Browne said the MP for St Philip’s North had strengthened communities, shaped policy and reinforced democratic institutions over 11 consecutive terms since first being elected on February 18, 1976.
“Our nation is stronger because of Sir Robin’s service,” the Prime Minister said, adding that his legacy is reflected not only in parliamentary records but in generations of constituents who have benefited from his work.
Opposition MP Richard Lewis also praised the achievement, noting that Sir Robin “stands alone” and pointing to his consistent re-election as something other politicians should study.
Browne highlighted Sir Robin’s accessibility, saying he never operated a formal constituency office, instead keeping his home open to residents throughout his career.

Something says you would have enjoyed it more if you felt you had really earned it, and the nation would honour you (and not only just your party members) if they felt you really earned all the fuss that he would shortly be making of you.
He is not doing this for you because he cares for you. You know him long enough to see it is all about him, and what mileage he would get from making you a national exhibit. If you doubt this, remember your peer Lester.
When he held your hands and feet and physically lifted, well dragged, you to this finish line, pity surfaced rather than adulation. It is like a marathon runner who took all the shortcuts and short alleys to reached the tape first at the finish line, but did not understand why his fellow competitors did not rush to congratulate him.
You are going to enjoy all the praise force on you but your conscience, which will make you question yourself about what have you really done for your people after 50 years in power, is going to pull painful breaths from his body.
I concur with Gaston that robin 50 years in parliament will stand the test of time, and that’s for his children and grandchildren to come since he has amassed so much wealth, the amount of beach front lands and sale of coastal and offshore islands mysteriously acquired by robin, his constituent will also continue to bare the brunt of abject poverty with no room for growth since robin or his white friends own all the commercial coastal lands that could have been potential like cal future development, but that by whom you sarcastically added the suffix “Sir” to robins name.
No disrespect to this elderly person but people are hurt for the lack of development of the st Phillips north constituency Dave and except robin alone developed.

Sir Robin Yearwood in 2004 was leader of the opposition in parliament until three of his admired colleagues stabbed him in the back in 2006. One has passed on to the other side ( former MP Asot)…. Anyone want to guess who were the other two barabbases? And why he was removed as leader of the opposition?
Fifty consecutive years of representation is a great feat anywhere. I am wondering if anyone else has ever done this. I knew Sir Robin and followed his career since my teen years and still scratching to understand. The people in this constituency should be put on a funny farm

I once heard a story that when the PLM won the election Sir Robin, then just Robin Yearwood pulled down his pants and poo pooed in the resivor in Willikies. Can anyone confirm
The Lawless Leader and his Foreign Affairs Minister still have some no-good plans for the people of Saint Philips North. They are imploring Randy Baltimore to continue the legacy of Robin Yearwood and we know that it’s all about wheeling and dealing. Who is now collecting the dividends from Roberts Construction, for the rental of the building in Cassada Gardens? The Hardee’s are going to miss him for sure.
