PM Says He Looks Forward To Lovell Lawsuit

11

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has responded to the threat of a lawsuit by United Progressive Party Leader Harold Lovell.

Lovell is suing Browne, Pointe FM and 268 Today for statements made over the weekend.

Responding on his Facebook page, Browne said, “Me throw me corn , didn’t call no fowl.”

“So if Harold wants to attribute my comment, (which were directed to myself), to himself – too bad.”

He added, “sometimes litigations have a way to boomerang and hurt the claimant.

“I look forward with eager anticipation. I will see him (in) court.”

Lovell called the statement by Browne “totally unfounded and scurrilous remarks made by the Prime Minister – even after being duly cautioned by the host – were intended to cause me personal and political injury.”

“But, even more significant, the Prime Minister’s defamatory statements have undermined the integrity of the justice system by bringing into question the professionalism of those who preside over the Courts.”

  2. Mr. PM we know you are in panic mode because you have incurred so much debt since you have taken over the government that now the corona pandemic is upon us you have little room to manoeuvre. All we heard from you over the past six years is you would be getting a loan for this and that. Lying on Lovell is not going to help the situation. If the pressure is unbearable, you can always resign because as you have always said, you have enough money. You also have your pension, so what is stopping you. You have done nothing for Antigua and the Antiguan people since you were elected to office, except opening a university that Antiguans can not afford.

You have a ONESIDED view of the issues. You should do your RESEARCH and STOP follow Your UPP MINIONS. Why don’t you advise your UPP to present Their Slate of Candidates for 2023 instead of bashing the Government who is doing a WONDERFUL JOB. Just to remind you that you will be GOVERNED by the ABLP for the next 30 years.

Why would you want a government to be in power for thirty years? Only two types of Antiguans support this corrupt government: Simple minded Antiguans, and a small clique getting rich from the system. Not even a stimulus package this government can give to poor Antiguans but Gaston is talking about using the people’s money in Namco to invest in Willoughby Bay and foreign sand mining that politicians will be involved in. The government will build infrastructure in Willoughby Bay but will not build infrastructure in Antigua for Antiguans. You can either stay in your stupidity for the next thirty years, or educate yourself.

  3. Lovell is finish, and he know it. The poor guy. UPP needs a new leader. Pringle should step up and put an end to this silliness.

  4. your such a contradiction Gaston …. so when it comes to that why u didn’t let Queen Ivena sing the song Nastiness .. she never call ur name lol and u threaten she you go sue she if she sing um …what a thing ….

  5. I read the TRANSCRIPT . Can Someone enlighten me where a LAWSUIT is justifiable ?The Prime Minister did not call a name . Is this Something new the LAW books.. Where is FREEDOM of speech ? I would like Tabor or Pompey to exercise Their LEGAL expertise on this Issue. Looking forward.

  6. Frederic Lampton you and your boss Gaston Browne are making the same mistake and that is that a name must be called before an aggrieved person can bring a defamation law suit. A defamation suit can also be based on innuendo i.e., an implication of the aggrieved person. It is clear from what Gaston Browne said that he was referring to Harold Lovell. I hope I was able to enlighten you a little bit.

  7. @ TABOR
