Prime Minister Gaston Browne has proposed new legislation to address the growing issue of inadequate road infrastructure in private housing developments.

The legislation would require developers to establish escrow funds dedicated to building proper roads before beginning construction.

Speaking in a recent interview on Pointe FM, the Prime Minister expressed concern about the long-term impact of insufficient infrastructure in privately developed communities.

“We are considering laws to ensure that developers create escrow funds to cover road construction,” he said.

“This way, the burden doesn’t fall on the government, and homeowners can enjoy well-built roads from the outset.”

Browne highlighted the disparity between private developments and government-initiated projects.

“When people compare poorly constructed roads in private developments to the concrete roads in government projects like Painters, it becomes clear that stricter regulations are needed,” he said.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that the issue has led to public dissatisfaction, with residents often blaming the government for infrastructure shortcomings in private developments.

“Ultimately, it’s the government that gets the blame,” Browne said. “We need to ensure private developers fulfill their responsibilities.”

He emphasized the importance of quality infrastructure for community well-being and safety. “Developers must prioritize proper road construction to enhance the quality of life for residents,” he said.

The proposed legislation aims to create accountability within the private development sector while reducing the financial burden on the government for retrofitting poorly built infrastructure.

  1. “Prime Minister Gaston Browne has proposed new legislation to address the growing issue of inadequate road infrastructure in private housing developments”.

How long have this government been in place again? Trupz. Every time an election or a
by-election comes up, the same ignorance this labour party government talk? Trupz.

If the electorate still continues to listen to these clowns, then they deserve what they get. It is as simple as that.

  2. So persons that buy homes in private development don’t have to pay property tax? Asking for myself… what does our property tax covers?
