“We are drowning in a sea of plastic pollution,” Browne said. “It is choking our oceans and devastating our biodiversity.”

He cited the urgent need for swift global action, referencing UNEA Resolution 5.14, which calls for the elimination of plastic pollution.

Browne emphasized that the question is no longer if action should be taken but how quickly countries can mobilize against this threat.

SIDS like Antigua and Barbuda are disproportionately affected by plastic pollution, which threatens fragile ecosystems and undermines efforts to promote sustainable tourism and agriculture.

“We must not allow the suffocation of our planet to continue,” Browne warned, stressing that future generations depend on the decisive actions taken now.

  1. Browne does not care about the environment or plastic pollution at all . When you listen to him talk at these international conferences you would be deluded into thinking that in Antigua the environment there must be the most cared for and protected in the entire Caribbean. Unless of course you actually live there .

He is referencing UNEA Resolution 5.14 because he is hoping to get in on some of the financial support to SIDS Dock provided by the Governments of Denmark and Japan and other development partners to provide support to SIDS in order to “creatively enrich” himself and his colleagues.

    Prove me wrong

  2. We sure are Prime Minister Browne, and it will continue as long as those with vested interests (including well-heeled politicians) in “bottled” water and not restoring an island wide water system, the current plastic growth will become very mountainous.

    What’s the answer?

Maybe Gaston can pay his new gangs to collect the plastics instead of pandering to them … just a thought 🤔

  3. Antigua is drowning in a sea of filth. How about concentrating on cleaning it up. Money is your main interest. To thief.

  4. Not only drowning in corruptible but teifingness, nepotism, filth.
