Prime Minister Gaston Browne assured St. Peter residents that roadworks in the constituency will continue beyond the January 14 by-election. Speaking on Pointe FM, he noted that repairs, initiated in August last year as part of a Ministry of Works plan, are focused on long-neglected areas like Gunthorpe’s and Lightfoot.
Browne dismissed opposition criticism of expedited work as election-driven, stating the pace increased following the unexpected death of former MP Asot Michael. He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the community’s long-standing issues with deteriorated roads and acknowledged the need for additional equipment to meet material demands for the ongoing projects.

A wha u accustom to do. Think people stupid? Look at the football field in Bolans, wha you nar come back to finish it? Wait man more by-elections coming you go have to spend even your enrichment money to try convince people. Nothing beats prayer and i am praying God’s will be done always
What about the roads in areas like lightfoot, sea view farm, free mans village, Clarks Hill, Renfrew?
They badly need some roads in these places
Every area need work on these secondary roads or pathways. The issue is that they cannot all be addressed all at once. Though some areas can be tackled simultaneously, the more critical process would require more than patching. There are roads that have to totally dug up and reconstructed using new methods for durability. People just to exercise a little more patience. I know that not what people want to hear but reality doesn’t change overnight. In another three years, we should see a minimum of 75% improvement in our road program.
When I read your post I smiled to myself and Pray for God to bring Judgment to you and your kind.
You have the gall to write “Every area need work on these secondary roads or pathways”. Every area (referring to the entire country)? You all people have no shame?
“People just to exercise a little more patience. I know that not what people want to hear but reality doesn’t change overnight”. Really? We must wait another 40 years?
Just gee out.
@Dave Ray… I totally agree! I live in Follies and nothing was ever done by the man who win he seat out there. Everybody want to lay all the blame at the now governments feet, as if nobody was there before. Sad state. Lest we forget!
Mr. Prime Minister Sir, I have lived in Belle Vue Estate for over sixteen years (16) from 2008 and I am still without water provided by APUA and I live on what my grandparents call “pah”. Nothing has every been done to the marl road I live on.
We were promised drains over ten years ago when I attempted to provide my own (to protect my property from flooding) and was stopped by both the neighbor and Public Works. I was told that the plans to provide drains in the area were finalized and I should see provision of drains and road repairs in short order. I am still waiting!!!
The provision of good roads and the timely maintenance of same whether main or secondary is a right as a citizen of this fair country Antigua and Barbuda.
I don’t usually comment in these forums, but maybe Public Works Repairs and Maintenance plans for the different areas should be disclosed so that we all know where we fall in priority and time frame for attention.
