Browne Urges Caribbean Calm and Resolve Amid Regional Uncertainty

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has issued a message of reassurance to Caribbean people, urging calm, strength and optimism amid heightened regional unease following developments in Venezuela.

In a brief social media post on Thursday, Browne appealed for unity and faith, writing: “Caribbeans – Stay calm, strong, optimistic and resolute, knowing that Jah will guide, provide for and protect us.”

The message comes as political tensions in Venezuela continue to draw regional and international attention, raising concerns across parts of the Caribbean about stability, democracy and the broader geopolitical environment.

Browne did not reference Venezuela directly, nor did he outline any policy position, but the timing of the message suggests an effort to steady public sentiment and reinforce resilience across the region during a period of uncertainty.

Antigua and Barbuda has traditionally supported dialogue, regional solidarity and respect for democratic norms within Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly during moments of political strain affecting neighbouring states.

Browne’s statement aligns with a broader pattern of Caribbean leaders emphasizing calm, unity and measured diplomacy when external developments threaten to unsettle the region.

  1. With all due respect Hon. PM Browne…….Do we have a choice??? We can say what we want but the USA has made their move…Uncle Maduro is gone so who ever is up next we have to reach out our hands eventually…

  2. “…Jah will guide us”?!?

Come on Prime Minister you know that faith without work is utterly meaningless. Read James 2:17

You are paid the big bucks – by we the taxpayers to resolve and make decisive decisions on serious matters as this. Even if you let Trump know about the destabilising effect of his current actions will have the Caribbean region – in the long-term will effect all of us, would be a good starting point.

Yes, you let the Trinidadian Prime Minister know (alongside other CARICOM members) how you felt about what she said and her tacit support for destabilising Venezuela, 🇻🇪 why not the same with Trump.

    WAR IS NEVER THE ANSWER!

About “Jah will guide us …” please!

  3. Jah will guide us, sounds like a man that is afraid to utter any other words about the REAL WORLD BOSS TRUMP, btw I can’t stand the man but the truth you are a small fry and should shave your Mustache because apparently that’s the first thing they did to that other Hitler clown ..HOW I love to see that you have the ability to stay calm.. but please leave alpha Nero situation alone, you don’t have the power.. YOU SHOULD STAY CALM and call uncle Donald Aka the real World Boss ABOUT GIVING US SOME OIL .. btw Maduro so called friends and army turned on him👈🏾👍🏾..

  4. I know what took place in that meeting with the commander of the southern command.
As soon as he retired, I knew what happened.he wasn’t on board with the US strikes, and he told GB as much.
In turn GB follow his cue and double down on the wrong decision.

You should have not listened to that General GB. He came and snitch on the US, Trump found out, then he quickly resigned.
    Why? Wasn’t it obvious.

Now everyone of these leaders are now scrambling around like chickens with their head cut off.

Y’all had a choice, but instead y’all conspire in your quiet quarters against the US, then come out in one accord claiming the foolish rhetoric that the carribean is a “zone of peace”
    Pure hypocrisy.
The Carribean has not been a zone of peace for decades now.
Where weee the efforts to stop Maduro when he was attempting to invade Guyana?
Where were the efforts to stop him when he was jailing and persecuting his political opponents?

    Not a word.

Good people stood up to Maduro, but it certainly doesn’t include you failed leaders, because y’all are not good, just a bunch of hypocrites.

” Friends of all and enemy to none”.
How is that working out for y’all?

The Carribean will face certain uncertainty now for a while, and you foolish leaders should have aligned yourselves to the US, not Donald Trump, but to the US intelligence who got this correct.

Let me remind y’all again. The US is a stone throw away from the Caribbean, they are practically our brothers, by culture and by the very freedoms we enjoy together. So get that in y’all thick heads.
Can you imagine if it was Russia who we were closer to?
    Yeah right!

In the grand scheme of things, the correct thing was done here..and I’m not even a Trump fan.

  5. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has paused processing for various immigration applications, including green cards and asylum, for nationals from numerous countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, as part of expanded “Travel Ban” restrictions initiated in late 2025, leading to a significant hold on adjudications and reviews of existing cases from high-risk nations.

Announcement to all my Antigua and Barbuda clients, you immigration applications will not be decided and will be placed on hold. Obviously that will interfere with my business as I collect payments upon approvals (winning a case).

  6. Brixtonian…SHM….WHAT A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT!!!!! Venezuela will be back to it’s glory days because the US gonna pump a shit load of cash into the new upcoming democratic government…Everything is gonna be flowing like normal and we will most likely have a closer and more beneficial relationship with the new Venezuela….So shut ya pie whole or push ya keyboard fingers in ya pocket with that BULLCRAP like we in some kind Iraq situation…..OHHHH PLEASE!!!! HALF YALL ON HERE NEVER KNOW SHID ABOUT WHAT Y”ALL TYPING…..

  7. Pm your speech against the sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela were empty barrels making the most noise. The US did not even pay attention to your loud rhetoric. They laughed and said to themselves cockroach in chicken pen. I can bet you will never return to UN and repeat the same sentiments as you did like before.
You need to know what to speak about as a small island state. World boss means- Antigua is your world. Think you were thinking it was the real world. The two international conferences have you bragging that you we are punching like heavy weights. Those can be dragged from under our feet, without even notifying us. Just imagine that the commonwealth conference was about to be held this weekend. Think the real world boss will even bother about its cancellation.
Hay my visa is up and right now I prefer that the CIP program is shut down completely, than me not getting my US visa renewed. I prefer to see any government out of power than my US visa renewal refused. Your US ambassador already ran home to Guyana. Already made his move seeing the writing are in the walls.
I now believe that it is a waste of our financial resources to have all these embassies and ambassadors. These are funds that can be saved and used in our poor economies. In fact in the interest of saving money we should be consolidating these offices and speaking with one Caribbean voice.
This might mean that we might have offices within the Caribbean embassy in the US and England etc. Unity is power !

  8. I’m not for Trump as a person, but in no way I’ll blame him here. Emotions won’t fix anything, solid, smart, decisions will.

He Trump, will say what he says and do what he does, but he doesn’t get it correctly a 100% nor does he get it wrong 100% of the time either, but this is where real diplomacy and smarts comes in, and many of the Caricom nations failed on this particular matter.

It’s for you as a leader to know the ebbs and flows of politician’s and there policies.
Yes, you don’t like the man, but he got elected before, and way back in November last year, so y’all had enough time to study the agender of the man and his temperimemt, like it or not.

He campaigned on all these things for crying out loud, but instead of our fickle leaders put their personal feelings aside and try and work with the hand they were delt, they conspired at their little meetings to try and derail the efforts to get rid of Maduro.

Bad bad move..so what happened, Visa applications were revoked, Maduro has being caught, and we have these fools throwing their hands in the air.

Well the advices from people like me were ignored, and now here we are.

So we cannot blame Trump if we are to be honest. He stated his intentions from the beginning of his first term.
    Y’all took him lightly, but I didn’t.
    So who’s to blame here?
This man double and triple down on what decisions he makes, so keep taking him for a joke at your own peril.

“If someone shows you who they are, believe them”
It’s on you to know the pocker players at the table, so don’t blame the other person for going all-in or try to bluff you!

  9. So @This world is messed up, what you are telling the world is, now that “technically” Trump is the new President of Venezuela 🇻🇪 of a Sovereign and removing an elected democratic leader that this is ok with you?

The rule of law has gone to the dogs – and hawks – of war!

And if I’m talking “BULLSHIT” you’ve got to be swimming in it daily…

  10. Prime Minister Browne’s call for Caribbean people to “remain calm” in the face of Venezuela’s crisis is deeply inadequate. At a moment that demands moral clarity and regional courage, calm words are no substitute for principled leadership. Instead of soothing rhetoric, Caribbean leaders should be taking a bold and unequivocal stance by condemning the United States’ unlawful aggression against a sovereign nation and its interference in Venezuela’s democratic process.
The bombing of a sovereign state, the removal of its elected president, and the attempted imposition of external leadership represent a dangerous violation of international law. The United States is not the world’s police, nor does it possess the moral authority to destabilize nations at will. The suffering inflicted on the Venezuelan people through military action, sanctions, and political coercion cannot be justified or ignored.
The hypocrisy is glaring. If Western powers claim to act in the name of stability and democracy, why have the United States and France failed to intervene meaningfully in Haiti, a nation whose instability is directly tied to decades of foreign interference and exploitation? The selective outrage exposes the true motives behind these so-called humanitarian actions.
History has already taught the Caribbean painful lessons. The U.S. invasion of Grenada under President Reagan remains a reminder of how external intervention can permanently alter the trajectory of small nations, often without accountability or reparations. We should not pretend that these actions occur without long-term consequences for the region.
The Caribbean’s voice must not be timid or divided. The Caribbean Basin must stand united, reject imperial overreach, and demand respect for sovereignty and self-determination. A firm regional position should call for the restoration of Venezuela’s elected leadership and insist that the United States be held accountable, including through reparations for the economic and human damage caused.
Silence and caution only embolden injustice. This is the moment for Caribbean leaders to speak with one voice—clearly, courageously, and without fear.
