PM Browne Promises Transparency on Port Crane Purchase

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has pledged to release all documentation related to the recent purchase of a port crane, including loan agreements and invoices, in a bid to dispel what he described as unfounded corruption allegations.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne show on Pointe FM, the Prime Minister, who also holds the portfolio for the port, said the government secured financing through a development corporation, with the state providing a 20 percent deposit and the remainder funded via loan.

“All of the agreements associated with this purchase will be made public,” Browne said. “I want to ensure there is no opportunity for mischief.”

The announcement comes amid public speculation over the cost and procurement process of the newly acquired equipment, which will be used to boost port operations. The Prime Minister noted that the new crane, despite improved specifications, cost no more than a similar crane purchased over two decades ago.

Browne insisted that his administration remains committed to good governance and said that no credible evidence of corruption has ever been presented against his government during its ten years in office.

“This administration has nothing to hide,” he added. “Transparency is not just a principle we uphold—it’s a practice we’re prepared to demonstrate.”

The Alfa Nero scandal is fresh, fresh, fresh.
Hasnt the Alfa Nero scandal taught us anything?
A “chansparent” prime minister should have learnt at least one thing from every scandalous situation.
    Has he?
I sincerely hope you have AN answer for every question that Richard Lewis may pose and you won’t play high and mighty.
A word to the wise, which you claim to be, is sufficient!!!!!

  2. This has never happened before but you find yourself in pickles so you are trying to look good now. After your stumble, this one might be the only instance where you might just be clean and we are still no sure.

  3. I’m very glad to hear this. Since I suggested this in the last comment on this article. I look forward to scrutinizing the agreement. And I hope this administration is not so stupid as the Baldwin Spencer administration was when they purchased a power plant that never worked. The people of this country are still paying back China for this. But you will never hear anything about this from the haters in the UPP. They just pretend this never happened. US$50 million gwaan a gwassa.
