PM Browne orders African detainees be sent back on Air Peace flight

29

Antigua’s PM Browne rejects African passengers’ stay request on Air Peace flight, insisting they must return as planned.

The decision follows reports of immigration detainment due to document issues.

Browne addressed the matter, explaining some passengers sought to transit to other countries and were advised to proceed with their original itinerary.

Air Peace, Nigeria’s carrier, marked history with the inaugural nonstop flight to Antigua, enhancing regional relations.

Browne cited the common nature of such occurrences and emphasized resilience in establishing a lasting air bridge between Africa and the Caribbean.

The incident evoked memories of past immigration challenges, highlighting the complexities of international movement.

  1. Amen! Somebody finally stand up to you and thought about their reputation being ruined because of your ignorance and arrogance with Air Peace and Marvelous Mike. A who name so?

You left Katrina, Melford, Croft and Lie-no Hell the last time to answer questions from your last African air bridge fiasco. You on you own now. Answer up!

By the way! Has Air Peace ever been issued or a in possession of Air Worthiness Certificate to operate in the Americas?

“common nature of sucoccurrences.” Give me a Heineken! You cannot get on an aircraft or any registered vessel. Operating legitimately from one port to another internationally. Without being vetted by the agents of the vessel that you have the required documents for legal entry.

Tell me. What countries or territories operate in such a manner? Besides, Antigua and Barbuda under your administrations!

  2. ONLY A PERSON WITH A BRAIN THE SIZE OF A PEA WOULD ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN TO THEM AGAIN.
THERE CAN BE NOTHING GOOD COMING OUT OF NIGERIA.

  3. If reverse psychology was a person. So now Gaston is the Chief Immigration Officer? Did all of the passengers leave? Give it a few days and the story will unfold.

  4. GASTON “IDIOT” BROWNE, YOUR RACKET IS BEING EXPOSED. WHEN WILL YOU STOP. WHO THE HELL IS GOING TO LEAVE AFRICA AND COME TO ANTIGUA WITH THE INTENT TO MOVE ON OR EVEN STAY HERE WITHOUT HAVING MADE PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS. NOBODY WOULD DO THAT UNLESS THEY KNOW THEY WERE PROMISED A CLEAR PASSAGE BY SOMEONE. STOP TRYING TO BELITTLE MY INTELLIGENCE ASSHOLE. YOU ARE A FLUCKING SICK EXCUSE FOR A PRIME MINISTER. DO THIS COUNTRY A FAVOUR AND GO ON RICHARD BRANSON’S JET TO SPACE AND STAY YOUR RHASS UP THERE.

  5. The usual Hog Wash from Browne , cited “the common nature of such occurrences.”
Rather than being common; it is highly unusual that passengers board international flights who are supposed to be wealthy business travelers, and it turns out they are being trafficked by an Ambassador.
The independent media needs to question Gaston and demand what’s going on, for it’s not a common occurrence. He owes the Country answers.
Not surprised if they disappear again, in the middle of the night by boat.

  6. Oh no! What will King Young Destroyer say? He just won a national crown with a song that says that the opposition should leave them alone, let them make Antigua their home. Will he, Sideline and Don’t Donna be upset with Gaston and personally take them in? Not a chance! He will sooner go back to Papa Bird’s grave and come with song that says, Papa say to send them back.

  7. The only thing we know, and what is undeniable, is that some of the passengers stated they were trafficked by an Ambassador.
The Government responded. “This marked history with the inaugural nonstop flight to Antigua, enhancing regional relations”.
    The words of the King

  8. Gaston Browne has been totally BANJAXED by this Nigerian Air Peace fiasco.

I’m so glad that HE now has to try and explain the current situation, whereas in the past he left it to Minister’s like Melford Nicholas; Lionel Hurst; Colin James; Katrina Yearwood; the Police commissioner Rodney Williams; and never forget the Minister for tourism, Charles ‘Max’ Fernández (who made sure he was in India 🇮🇳 when this Air Peace bulldust hit the fan).

All the above knew what was going to happen before it happened, and they made sure this time that the PM take the flack and would have to speak to the whole nation.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne, your credibility has gone with the wind, and your position as the leader of Antigua & Barbuda has become untenable.

As I said earlier – totally BANJAXED!!!

GO NOW, YOU ARE MAKING OUR COUNTRY A GLOBAL LAUGHING STOCK.

  9. The problem that faces Antigua is that there are no laws and everything is fluid according to the situation at a particular place and time.

Additionally people are employed to perform specific tasks however they are disallowed from applying their knowledge.

When the different government agencies are allowed to do their jobs we will have a stronger economy and a law abiding nation.

When this happens the check your minister culture and its who you know culture will diminish….

Why is the PRIME MINISTER addressing such a minor issue before the Chief Immigration Officer, the Permanent Secretary, or the Minister in Charge?

So you see not withstanding laws the country is being run on personal feelings on a certain day or time.

  10. Now the same person who made a compelling case for his brothers and sisters from Africa to remain in the state, to the extent allowing them work permit fee waivers etc. Is the same person making a compelling case for his brothers and sisters from Africa to return home. CAN’T MAKE THIS SHIT UP….CONFUSED YET?

Now the minions will join the chorus and support the move to send them back when yesterday they were all supporting that they stay. THIS IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF MENTAL ILLNESS.

  11. These African Crooks are smelling blood like Wild Dogs and Hyenas and they’re coming to feast!
GASTON BROWNE and this ABLP Administration should be thoroughly investigated, charges laid where and when appropriate.
They’re an albatross around the Nation’s neck.

  12. It is the correct decision by Prime Minister Browne given what transpired not so long ago. I have no doubt that those passengers who were forcibly pushed to leave and who insisted that they paid an Ambassador in order to make the necessary “set up” to allow them to stay, will have their say once they reach back to the African continent. It is imperative too, given his involvement in this undertaking, that the ambassador comes and clear his name.

  13. If it was a UPP ambassador accused, the party would have already release his name and give him up to the authorities.

They stupid that way. Party of boy scouts and girl guides. Waiting for Jesus to pat them on the back and say well done Christian servant.

They will never beat Labour. They will only get government again if Gaston leave or dead.

  14. Gaston did not want to send the Africans back. All that posturing was just a smoke screen to pull our attention away from the real issue concerning the flight.

His actions make him look like he is so outraged and he is going to fix everything by being authoritative.

    Bull shirt!

But he achieved his goal. We were distracted.

  15. @ Audley Phillip
You write” those passengers who were forcibly pushed to leave” Did you dream it? Do tell what is the credable source from which you recieved such information?

I recall Chet Greene Minister of Foriegn Affairs, who announce from Nigeria while he was there, the plans for Air Peace comming to Antigua.

What you write is like slavery- reminiscent of the slave trade when our forefathers were pushed to leave against their will.
You seem to know a lot we don’t know so do tell.

  16. There are many Chinese in Antigua.Do they come into Antigua with proper documentations? How it is they could stay indefinitely? They could work without Immigration going after them. Why? Are they the untouchables?

  17. @ Melchesidec
I agree with your sentiments about the laws. To be more specific we were given colonial constitution an laws by the UK who has a poulation of approximately 67,750,000. Antifua and Barbuda has a population of less the 50,000 people who are here for 3 genrations or more.
The remainder who brings our population to appraoximately 100,000 are fellow Caribbean brothers and sisters who are economic migrants with out a deep interest in policies and laws that affects the future of Antigua and Barbuda.
Others are Eurpopean migrants called Expats who quickly moves to the top of the food chain.
Among the 50K of three or more generations are those who have become Nepo Babies who are part of the political elites.
You and me and others are left in that minority of the population with an interest in modernising the structure of governing as well as the laws and policies.
Until those times arrive, what we have today will just become worse. The descendants of those who worked in the cane fields and cotton fields, in Antigua and Barbuda will set their sights overseas, and the power structures loves that.
At the moment there are more people (Antiguans of 3 and 4 generations) in the dyaspora than in Antigua and Barbuda
Among Barbudans, there are 30,000 in the dyaspora and 1,500 on Barbuda

  18. UPP has not been asking for an Inquiry. Pass experience tells them its a waste of time and energy. Their enrgy are focused on the by-election understanding Gaston is digging his own grave.
Gaston stated that the “Trafficked Nigerian and and Camaroonians” should be sent back. Will they really be sent back to Africa or sent on elasewhere?

What is the cost of this, exercise, fiasco whatever is costing the people of Antigua and Barbuda?

As the Government picks up the tab; do anyone knows who are the benificiart local businesses that the contractual oppurtunities will go too.

Clearly situation like this shows it pays to support the ABLP; for hell will freeze over before a opposition supportor get any of this oppurtunity. Frankly its questionable if there are any oppurtunity comming out of this

    With regards to the Ambassador
This was Minister Green’s initiative, which he announced from Logos. Can he shed some light on the matter. Is our Hon Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs who is always ready to talk with a glib statement whether its about Haiti or education. Is he finding this, as Otis Redding sang: “Baby to Hard to Handle”
Remember what was said about checks and thief at the Saint Johns Port. We know who it is.. we don’t want to name and shame.
Soon we will get some prepostorous statement headed: CABINET NOTES

  19. Why does this idiot need to intervene in this matter, unless he is right in the middle of the whole fiasco? Word is, he paid for the charter flight.
Are the immigration officers so incompetent and docile, waiting on orders from the puppet master to function, that they cannot deal with this situation themselves. In any country, what visitor can insist that they are not leaving someone else’s country? They would just be held somewhere and put on the flight to return to where ever the hell they came from.
Again, this whole thing stinks, and Gaston Browne is right in the middle of it. We must ask ourselves, what is he getting out of all of this?
Our country continues to sink to unprecedented levels of embarrassment, and we do nothing. We need to get rid of this idiot before he completely ruins this twin island state.

  20. Again, are we this dumb and foolish as Antiguans?
Can’t you all see this is organized crime being perpetrated right in front you all very own eyes?

This has been going on for years, just like the CIP program, people with their ill-gotten gains seaking refuge from investigators and in partnership with corrupt politicians.

If you have that kind of money, why not seek citizenship the correct way like most of us, go figure, why go through all this illegal entries just to get away from your country that you were born?

    Think people, think.

As noble as some might think these ministers are, they are ripping off the country right in front you’ll faces.

These Nigerians came here because someone is fronting their efforts, and we all know who is benefitting from this deal, cause it’s certainly not the Antiguan public.

I was certainly not the smartest dude in my class, but trust me, I wasn’t the dumbest either..

This Government is corrupt, plain and simple, and there is a lot of evidence on display to prove that.

A guilty person always put themselves right in the middle of the investigation, especially when it’s not them that’s supposed to be speaking to this matter directly, so scychology one o one tells me that this man is trying to deflect you’ll attention.

Like the Nigerians said, they paid to be here and stay here…let that sink in for a minute people. Ummm. Smdh.
