They are not interested in the country’s bank account but the PM bank account. The reputation of the country is fine, it is his reputation he needs to worry about.

There are precedence in subpoenaing and getting bank accounts of individuals for civil litigation no matter what position they have (north Korea, default judgment for billions for not responding), and other persons in positions like PM Browne.

This is a civil matter, not a criminal matter in which you may exercise immunity and so forth, as a government employee/PM.

So I am only playing devil’s advocate here BUT If something is for sale by a government for forty million dollars, am I to believe that the buyer wrote a cheque to an individual and not to the government in question OR wire transfer to the government’s account?
