Prime Minister Gaston Browne has defended his frequent use of social media, particularly Facebook, as a vital tool for direct engagement with citizens. While his approach draws mixed reactions—some praising his transparency and others criticizing his combative responses to detractors—Browne argues that digital platforms enhance government accountability and outreach, especially to younger audiences. He acknowledged the challenges of misinformation and public discord but maintained that the benefits of connecting with the public online outweigh the drawbacks.

I have never seen anything for the PM on Facebook and I do not think using the platform to communicate is outof order, the problem I believe the people have is the nasty rhetoric that he uses which is unbecoming for someone of his status
And you want to know why the young people here disrespectful to their elders and doing what ever they want to do including crime?? Follow the leader..
I’m not saying that Gaston cannot be about if the media. But every bobo he see doesn’t need a plaster. Disrespecting your citizens? And we suppose to respect a leader like this ugly mustache man? Listen to me. Just…. Bosss. Ma out
Everytime I see this man I blush. lol. A very down to earth man in my opinion, Gaston engages with his citizens and followers on Facebook and even answer the questions of some. Being a Nations Leader, doesn’t mean you must be stock up and yeah, cause yall will talk about that. But this man there, lol, he don’t care. He sees himself on the same level as his people and that’s one thing I like most about him. lol. Mr. Handsome Prime Minster
One long dutty chupzzzz. We want him to address the disrespect in his Facebook comments. Those actions were uncalled for and should never be the actions of a Prime Minister, a leader of twin island states
This is the difference between Gaston Browne and the rest or the leaders. He meets his people on their levels. His love for social media has more to do with reaching and interacting with his country than anything else. This is where the young people can meet him and cuss him or show love to him. Either way it is good stuff. We like the idea we can get an immediate response from our prime minister. Not many of us are fortunate to walk into his office and sit and roll a joint
@gaston the top dog: you all don’t ask me nothing about nyamco monies, it’s not you all business how it been spent, neither alpha Nero boat monies. Oops! The American court has forced me to divulge my secret sales amount of the Russian boat to the public, but I gave them a made up financial disclosure.
It’s not what you do, or what you use to [engage] the public, DECORUM MATTERS!
Social media has transformed the political landscape providing platforms for communication, mobilization and engagement that were unimaginable just a few decades ago. It’s influence on politics is profound and multifaceted, impacting everything from election campaigns to governance and public discourse.
I think it is truly a wonderful thing that the Prime Minister is utilizing social media. It is a welcome change from that of his predecessors. What I would like to see is more meaningful and substantive discourse from the Honourable Prime Minister and less of the confrontational, combative and adversarial rhetoric that has become his hallmark. As Prime Minister, he would always be scrutinized, criticized and chastised when some citizens are not in agreement with him. The Prime Minister must set the bar at a higher standard by avoiding some of the heated arguments that he so willingly participate in. The manner in which he responds to certain criticisms leaves a lot to be desired and contributes to the disrespectful, profane, impolite and insulting rhetoric that we see involving him on social media. Learning to read criticisms about oneself and just glance over them with a smile is an art which the Prime Minister is yet to perfect. He would do well by continuing to use social media but not taking up every challenge that is thrown at him.
Mr . PM, just kindly., ON THIS OCCASION ONLY, sidestep the froth coming from the mouths of the likes of Stone, Eldread and an obviously hungry one peddling Food4thought. Every last one of them, pen and pad in hand, gather at your footstool on a Saturday afternoon for you Browne and Browne Show..Everyone of us including the haters, look forward to your blunt, unpolished explanation of the goings on in this country. You don’t shy away from any topic, not even those that their pal- for-life and colleague, Collin Browne is enticed to question for their benefit. If an obvious retard presents himself as such, and proceeds to gleefully defend him/herself as such, then why should the PM not disclose to his listening and viewing audience the qualities and qualifications of the retard with whom he is interacting. Some people are just “too thinn skim” as we say in Antigua”. Not every public official will accept the deliberate lies and misinformation as merely par for the course. When you step into the ring with the PM, be sure that you are well protected at every stage or be prepared to tek wha’ you get! Na fraid dem! Nonsense!
Again…Antigua needs more doers in office, not talkers.
Social media is just a tool for us to run our mouth, doesn’t mean we are getting anything done.
As a PM, you were elected to do do do, not talk talk talk.
Anything Gatson Browne does is not above board, and everyone knows that. Just look at all the issues he had in the past two years because of all his crooked ways.
The Antigua Airways saga(where did the Africans go Gatson) the Alpha Nero debacle(we told you not to sell the boat Gatson) the Lait2020 dumb 70/30 deal in favor of a corrupt Nigerian( where is that contract Gatson, show the public) the nepatism with his son(giving his son government contracts and curry favoring those contracts) endless promises with nothing delivered.
And oh, don’t for the murder of an MP, the murder and abduction of Chantel, the many missing persons that still can’t be located or their murderers brought to justice.
All this in two years, two years people, two.
Put that in context and any dumb person can see where this island is heading with this inept government.
The AG has already taking his leave of absence, and we already know the Commish is already in his new post somewhere far from the corrupt administration.
There is no such thing as ” coincidence”, where there is smoke, a fire has started.
